football team. In December, the native islander teamed up with his mother, Deborah Govan, to open a unique Southern-style restaurant on the north end. Ruby Lee’s, named in honor of Singleton’s grand-mother, is the island’s newest hotspot for sports, blues and soul food. “I get excited just talking about it,” Singleton said. “We’re making everything fresh, to-order. And we are able to offer it at an affordable price in a great location. The feedback has been great and people are really enjoying it.” Using time-tested family recipes, Ruby Lee’s serves up such comfort food classics as authentic fried chicken, southern fried pork chops, smoked baby back ribs, seasoned pulled pork, sautéed collard greens, fresh seafood and more. Live entertainment is offered at 7 p.m. Mon-day-Saturday. Along with good food and music, Ruby Lee’s is also the place to be for sports fans. The restaurant has all of the sports packages and offers a daily happy hour from 4-7 p.m. Plans for a Sunday brunch are in the works. “I think our eclectic appeal makes us stand out,” Singleton said. “We’ve got sports, blues and soul food … and our food can be healthy. We offer it in grilled and fried versions. We also have a build-your-own salad. We’re not trying to do too many things. The things we do, we’re going to do very well. The Low-country southern appeal is something we are going to try and master.” Ruby Lee’s is located at 46 Old Wild Horse Road, next to the Litter Box Thrift Store. Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-11 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, call 843-681-7829.

Gelato Gourmet Café prides itself on fresh, high-end coffee drinks, desserts, chocolates, sandwiches, fl atbreads and more. That’s the main reason why our coffee is so good and fresh.” Chocolates are provided by DeBrand Fine Choc-olates, a company that has twice been listed among “Oprah’s Favorite Things” in Oprah Magazine. Des-serts are from a small pastry shop outside of Charlotte. “Nothing that we have has preservatives,” Lonyai said. “Everything is very healthy. We really tried to focus on having everything supplied by American manufacturers that offer high-quality items.” Hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday and noon-8 p.m. on Sunday. Tavern 46B lu f f t on we l -comes a new r e s t a u r a n t & sports bar! Tav-ern 46 (located on Highway 46,

just off U.S. 278) is a unique dining and entertainment destination in a familiar location. Formerly Montana’s Restaurant & Grizzly Bar, Tavern 46 has a new identity to match its new name. “This place has been through so many different changes over the past 10 or 12 years,” general man-ager Brad Barnette said. “It’s been a biker bar, it’s been a pool hall, it’s been a wild game restaurant, and it’s been a southern restaurant. There is no identity here. We’re just going to cut ties with Montana’s and create a new identity.” The casual, yet upscale dining atmosphere offers a menu including a delicious selection of steaks and local seafood. Try gourmet burgers, award-winning barbecue ribs, slow-cooked pork chops or one of many tastefully pleasing desserts. Tavern 46 features an exquisite bar, one of the largest in the Lowcountry. Offering a unique selection of 34 beers on tap (27 from craft microbrews), 15 fl at screen TV’s, and service exceeding all expectations. Tavern 46 is open seven days a week and offers an early bird menu and a daily happy hour you don’t want to miss! See live entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. to give the popular bar a menu unlike any other in Bluffton. “We have super high-end bar food but it’s not super-high in price,” Jording said. “All of our ribeye and fi llet we grind at Sage Room for our burgers here. Everything is made-to-order. It’s the same high-quality food but in a bar atmosphere.” Along with gourmet burgers, the new menu offers several unique sandwiches and sharable foods, such as nachos and oyster shooters. Food is served 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, then 11 a.m. to midnight Thursday through Saturday.
