RELIEVING PRINCIPAL’S REPORT I can’t believe how fast this term has gone. We are now in Week 9 and this is the second last Chatterbox for Term 1. It was lovely to start off the week with a dry day so that all the students could go out and run off their excess energy. I’d like to congratulate all students on how well behaved they were after being cooped up in the classroom for most of last week with the wet weather. Our School Photo Day was held yesterday and it was lovely to hear positive comments about our students from the photographers. We have now subscribed as a whole school to the Skoolbag School App which is now available to download for free on both Apple and Android devices. This mobile App provides an easy way to inform parents and carers about events, last minute sport cancellations, excursion updates, upcoming events and other information. Please see the last page of this Chatterbox on how to download the App. I’m looking forward to our special day on Thursday, ‘Story Crowd Day’. I’ve never met a real life author before. Don’t forget our first Disco of the year on Friday, 24 March. I look forward to seeing both students and parents on the night. Best wishes Martha Adams. Congratulations to past student, Samantha Battams, who won gold in the 13 years event at the State Titles of the NSW Open Water Championships in a time of 1 hour and 6 minutes. Samantha is a member of the Harlee Elite Swimming Squad at the Max Parker Leisure Centre. Samantha went on to contest the National Championships in Adelaide where she achieved a top 10 finish. WRITING AWARDS Congratulations to Marie Tourni KD for a very creative silly sentence, well done! Congratulations to Alex Solomon 2F, for trying really hard to extend his writing, great work! Writing samples can be viewed on the Writer’s Wall of Fame near the School Office. WINTER UNIFORM All students should return in Term 2 in their winter school uniform. SCHOOL SPECTACULAR

During this term both the K-2 and 3-6 Dance groups from last year have been working hard towards auditioning for the 2017 School Spectacular. The students have been practising the dances and working on their movement and skills to participate in auditioning for the combined dance performance at Homebush later this year.

The two dance groups have been dedicating their lunch times to rehearse and film their audition videos. Miss Farrell and Mrs Nott are very proud of the student’s effort during this exciting time and look forward to this year’s dancing opportunities.

Miss T Farrell & Mrs Nott, School Spectacular Co-ordinators.

CLASS SHOWCASE Our showcasing of student work is located at the bottom of our front web page under Social Media Profile.

We hope you enjoy 2N’s presentation of Harmony Day.

VALUE OF THE FORTNIGHT Responsibility

Please support us at home by having discussions with your child/children about what ‘responsibility’ means at home, at school and in the community.

RULE OF THE FORTNIGHT The rule we are focusing on for

Term 1 , Weeks 10 & 11 is:

Be Respectful

You can support us at home by having discussions with your child/children about what “Being respectful” means and what this rule means in different settings.

!!! STOP PRESS!!! DEBATING Panania PS opposed East Hills PS today, Wednesday, 22 March in the first round of Debating. The topic was “Homework is a waste of time” and we were the negative.

Our team of Olivia Kington, Clare Lu, Edie Seedsman and Lily Thompson did a fantastic job and we were judged as the winning team. Well done girls!
