Lots of great stuff happening in the Heralds world! Special thanks to Ralph Brown, Chuck Steiner, Steve Cragg, Mike Cross and the rest of their crew for put-ting on a wonderful Installation Banquet. Congratulation to Dave Cross as our new BOTY! It was moving to see the out-

going BOTY, his son Mike, present Dave the award. The evening was a great kick-off for our 75th Anniversary year.

Special thanks also to Steve Goldman and Greg Garvin for heading up the Singing Valentine program this year. Thanks to their crew and the guys who went out on behalf of the Heralds spreading love and joy throughout the Tam-pa Bay community.

Contest is right around the corner. Only a few more rehearsals before we have the opportunity to share our new ballad with the District. Please do what you can to make each rehearsal. Please purchase your all events ticket before the February 27th early bird pricing deadline. If you are staying at the Marriott, I encourage you to get your room now. Once our block of rooms is gone the hotel pricing goes up significantly.

Special thanks to Clay Hine for a great night of coaching at last week’s rehearsal. Clay and Tony brought the new ballad to an amazing level of performance! I can’t wait to see what this song will become by contest. The 75th Anniversary team has been working hard fin-

ishing up some of the essential elements before the pricing announcement is sent out. As we have mentioned there will be a golf tournament in the USF area Friday morning, and wonderful Alumni Dinner Dance at the Italian Club in Ybor City Friday night, 2 completely different shows on Saturday at USF and a fun Afterglow at the Embassy Suites on the USF Campus complete with a breakfast buffet and entertainment by our guest quartets. What a great weekend this will be!

Thanks to Alex Kuen for his work on establishing a date for us to sing at the Rays game sometime in September. We will announce the date as soon as it is confirmed.

There certainly is a lot of great stuff happening in the Heralds world! Arne

“Friends of the Heralds” (FOH) is a fund-raising pro-gram that is an important part of the Heralds yearly operating budget. Our mission is to preserve and further develop a cappella singing through musical ex-cellence. FOH was established to help sustain Heralds of Harmony financial needs as we increase the number of singers on the risers and continue to improve our musical performance.

We are a non-profit organization supported by our performance ticket sales, dues and grants. Under the direction of Tony De Rosa, we will continue to offer the best musical and entertainment experience for our audience. In 2019, we placed 8th in the world at the International Chorus Competition of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Just as importantly, our chorus has seen a growth in youth members, bringing our total to more than 14 men under the age of 30.

We wish to thank the donors listed on this page for their generous contributions in 2019.

If you would like to support us, donation cards are available in the lobby, make your check payable to “Heralds of Harmony” and mail to: P.O. Box 274076, Tampa, FL 33688-4076. Please include in the envelope a note indicating that this is a Friends of the Heralds donation, along with your full name and address.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETINGSThe next Board Meeting is scheduled for March 10, 2020.

Minutes to Board Meetings are available to all members on the ‘Members Section’ of the website. Board Meetings are typically held online and open to all members. If you are interested in attending, you can obtain the link and sign-in

information from Arne Helbig, [email protected].

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Knowing words and notes on ALL current repertoire is the most basic

of musical commitments we make when joining the Heralds of Harmony.

While we are cognizant that this is (at heart) an individual commitment, the entire Music Team has agreed to collective-ly manage all to achieve a standard of being FULLY QUALIFIED on our current repertoire on a timely basis.

FULLY QUALIFIED DEFINITION: Every member of the Performing Chorus is expected to know 100% of notes and words on current repertoire (as well as any breath points assigned by Tony, or marked in the score) by the assigned “learn by date”.

See you at our next rehearsal on February 24th.Please get qualified on Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
