• Identifying a cadre of ES principals to assist this summer in mentoring and supporting colleagues with the design of their master schedules
6
Proposed Regulation Changes
• Music/Art/PE (3340.3, 3218.2)
– No changes anticipated for music, art or PE
– May need to consider flexibility with chorus offerings in the future
7
Proposed Regulation Changes • Planning Time – Minimum guidelines for teacher-directed planning time would be
an average of 48 minutes per day (240 average per week over a two week period)
– Minimum for team collaboration would be 60 minutes per week
– Total time per week is 300 minutes on average
– Principals may devote more time to planning if they are able to do so
– Using other certified instructional employees to provide planning time should be limited and should be compliant with current regulations
8
Proposed Regulation Changes • Substitutes – Any specialist used for TTT time would be eligible for a
substitute in order to maintain core teacher planning time. By current regulation, specialists may be required to spend up to 10 hours per week in coverage for core teachers. Substitutes for these positions should be required to do teacher tasks (if subbing for counselor, teacher lessons will be provided as opposed to tasks that require counseling certification).
– Any position in the master schedule would be eligible for a substitute in the case of illness or professional development
9
Faculty Meetings – Before or After School
• Principals can bank employee contract time to allow for faculty meetings before or after school
• Faculty meetings should be scheduled at least one week in advance to help employees make arrangements
• Principals are encouraged to establish an annual calendar of these meetings

• Should emergency conditions arise, principals may schedule meetings as needed outside the guidelines
