From India to Indio – Living the American Dream Chandi had always wanted to come to the United States, and in 1992, he fulfilled that dreamwhen he left his father’s agricultural business in India and moved to Indio in the CoachellaValley. He began working day and night as the manager of “White’s Black Gold Gasoline”with the vision of someday owning his own station. By 1994, Chandi had saved enoughmoney to purchase the station and begin transforming it into his first Arco AM/PM franchise.Then, in 1999, Chandi invested all of his earnings, purchased another Arco franchise, andcreated the Mecca Travel Center in Mecca, CA, just above the Salton Sea. The travel centeropened in 2002 and currently houses Arco AM/PM, Del Taco, Subway, Juice It Up!, Starbucks,and Chelo’s Café, providing many jobs to the local economy. As the years passed, Chandipurchased many more franchises and currently owns 13 Arco AM/PM’s, and multiple otherfranchises including Del Taco, Subway and Juice It Up!. His business empire providesemployment to over 400 people in the local area. On March 29, 2014, Chandi held a very successful and well attended grand-openingceremony for his most recent venture, the Arco AM/PM on Jefferson near Indio Blvd. in Indio,CA. The seasoned businessman turned to the financing experts at Enterprise Funding Corp.for an SBA 504 small business loan to make this $5 million project a reality. The downpayment on the loan for The Chandi Group was 16 percent of the project cost, whileEnterprise Funding financed 34 percent. The remaining 50 percent was financed as aconstruction loan by Community Valley Bank. Chandi attributes his success to the opportunities that are only available in America and ispassionate about helping the youth he employs stay on track and follow their own dreams;working with them very closely to help them avoid making mistakes. Birth Choice of the Desert (BCoD), a 501(c)3, has been improving the lives of teens and youngmothers in the Coachella Valley since August 1997. Birth Choice of the Desert is located in LaQuinta, CA. Our mission is to provide assistance in a safe environment that nurtures hope andinformed choices to those affected by an unplanned pregnancy.  Birth Choice of the Desert servesbetween 80-100 families per month in the Coachella Valley, offering a support system to mothersand babies through age 2. Our services begin with educating our youth through our TeenOutreach Program; RAP-Rise Above Program. The mother and child through our Earn While YouLearn Crisis Pregnancy Empowerment Education program. This program allows mothers topurchase diapers and baby items using our “baby bucks” as well as learn pre-and-postnataldevelopment and parenting material. Birth Choice of the Desert provides various complimentaryservices for women who are pregnant and looking for support as they consider their options,.  

Heart 2 Heart Foundation

Human Health Initiative

Formed in 2015, the primary focus of the Heart2Heart Foundation is to train high school studentsto perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use Automated External Defibrillators(AED’s), thus instilling the confidence to use those skills and mentor the students that choose topursue a career in a healthcare discipline.  We are transforming students' lives of all socio-economic levels by providing them with the tools and resources to pursue their dreams ofbecoming a Nurse, Paramedic or Firefighter. Since our designation as a non-profit, numerous schools have sought out Heart2Heart to trainand certify their students. To date, we have trained over 180,000 students and have served highschools in Riverside and Los Angeles Counties with our primary focus being the Coachella ValleySchools Districts. The Human Health Initiative (HHI) 501(c)3 nonprofit was founded to provide 21st-Century advancedhealth and wellness education as a response to the critical global need for chronic diseaseprevention. Preventable chronic diseases account for 60% of all deaths globally and it has beenscientifically shown that these diseases of diet and lifestyle can be prevented and even reversedthrough proper education and awareness. The Human Health Initiative headquarters and founding city is Palm Desert, CA and we hope tobegin our course offerings, first among our three valley school districts. We’re confident, given theresults that Jason Tate, HHI Founder & President, has already achieved in his classes teaching 21st-Century health and wellness, that the HHI brand and curriculum will become one of the nation’sleading nonprofits providing life-saving human health education to millions across the countrywithin the near and foreseeable future.

Parkinson's Resource Organization

Martha's Village & Kitchen is one of the largest providers of homeless services in the CoachellaValley and Riverside County. Martha's began in 1990 when the founders served meals to theirhomeless neighbors. Today, from its campus in Indio, CA, Martha's offers unique life-changingprograms based on the nationally-recognized "continuum of care model" breaking the cycle ofhomelessness and poverty.  A vital component of the region's safety net, Martha's Village & Kitchen serves over 6,000neighbors in need from throughout the Coachella Valley each year, with a comprehensive arrayof programs which address both the causes and symptoms of poverty and homelessness.Martha's offers emergency housing for families and individuals, nutritious meals, casemanagement, childcare, recovery services, employment and education services, and emergencyassistance. These programs are supplemented by a thrift store, medical clinic, computer lab,food pantry, resource room, and a cooling center. 

Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO) with a mission of “working so no one is isolated becauseof Parkinson’s disease” was established in 1990 as a non-profit 501(C)(3) charity. Needs of the Parkinson’s world are support; the knowledge of, education about, and access toresources that, in some instance, the Person with Parkinson’s (PWP) or their family may not evenknow. To fulfill the needs of the Parkinson's world which grows by one in every 60 people, PRO isdeveloping The Wellness Village, a virtual, vetted, video-driven resource directory on their website. Parkinson’s Resource Organization is looking for support, helping them help thousands of peopleaffected by Parkinson’s get through this horrific disease with the greatest “Quality of Life” possible,in funding the infrastructure development and foundation of the Wellness Village.

Radio Remanente

The BEST OF YOU program will outreach to children in the foster care system who are in need ofextra support. The program will surround them with undeniable love and connect them with a"lifetime network" of vetted and qualified mentors from local churches. These adolescents will findfamily support once a month on Saturday mornings. We will share the good news of hope overpancakes and eggs. Through mentoring we will help prevent these adolescents from falling into the traps of sextraffickers, drug addiction, unplanned pregnancy, and legal problems. We will not wait for theseyouth to fall, we will meet them where they are now and help uplift and support them for thefuture. Radio Remanente, radio of life, seeks to ensure that ALL of the youth of the Coachella Valley aregiven a hope and a future without bondage.
