Facility Member (FM) Allows full use of the Downtown and Dunigan Family YMCAs, including all membership benefi ts. Members also receive free or reduced pricing on programs.

Program Member (PM) Participants who enroll in individual YMCA programs (swim lessons, basketball, etc.) without being a Facility Member.

Refund Policy For YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the fi rst class. Participants have the option of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the fi rst class, refunds and credits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at the Member Service Desk or from the program director.

CHILD CAREBEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CAREAs the largest not for profit provider of school-age programs, the Y helps hundreds of children each year reach their fullest potential in a welcoming, supportive environment by incorporating the values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith into all of our youth services programming each day. We give children the solid foundation they need to

thrive – not only in school, but beyond. We offer Before and After School programming at: JH Castle, Sharon, Newburgh, Chandler, Loge, Oakdale and Yankeetown in Warrick County. In Vanderburgh County at Evansville Lutheran School and Christ the King. In Posey County at Marrs, West, South Terrace, and North. Parents Night OutHey parents! Enjoy a night out and take the worry out of finding a babysitter. Children ages 3-12 will participate in fun activities including gym games, table games and crafts. Children must be potty-trained. The Youth Activity Center will also be open for children to enjoy the Wii, Xbox Kinect and an interactive snowboarding game. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Space is limited so please register by the Wednesday prior to the event.

SNOW DAY CARE The YMCA offers an option for working parents on days when school is canceled due to snow and ice. We offer supervised games, swimming, open gym time, and activities in our youth center for school age children (K-6). Each child should bring a lunch, swim suit and towel daily. A $15 non-refundable registration fee is required to reserve your spot for any snow day session. The snow day program is held at the Downtown YMCA. Registration is limited, so make sure to register early!

IN IT TO WIN ITIN IT TO WIN IT, through a partnership with Youth First, Inc., with grant funding from the Old National Bank Foundation, is a FREE leadership program open to 7th and 8th grade youth. Based on the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey, IN IT TO WIN IT is an eight week program which introduces youth to the leadership qualities they already possess and how to grow stronger in areas such as time management, prioritizing, goal setting and resisting peer pressure as well as building strong relationships with friends and family.

Y’s RangersThis half day preschool program is for 3-4 year olds. Children DO need to be completely potty trained and 3 years of age by August 1 to enroll.

Caring CadetsThis half day preschool program is for 4-5 year olds. Children must be potty trained and 4 years of age by August 1 to enroll. This class focuses on kindergarten-readiness skills. There will be an annual $25 curriculum fee for this class which will be due with the first month’s tuition. The books will be kept at school for your child’s use.

Half-Day Preschool EnrichmentWe provide an opportunity for children 3-5 years of age to participate in a half day preschool program. Teachers will provide hands on experience for your child while developing basic social and academic skills in a Christian environment. These classes run September through May and follow the EVSC school calendar. A non-refundable $40 deposit is due upon enrollment. Tuition is paid monthly and is due the first day of each month. Space is limited. Currently registering for the 2011-2012 school year. Our classes begin the week of September 6.

Safe SitterWould you know what to do if a child was choking while you were babysitting? Would you know how to call 911 or how to handle a nosebleed? Safe Sitters will learn all these things and more! Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized babysitting preparation program for boys and girls 11-13 years of age. Gift Certificates are available for purchase. Students need to bring their own lunch. Manual is included.

Homeschool Youth Get FitThis class will teach children 6-12 years of age about healthy lifestyles, endurance muscle strength and flexibility while playing games in a noncompetitive environment.

Homework HelpIt’s Back to School time and we know how important it is to set children up for success in school. Getting help with homework could be essential to your child’s school performance. Starting this fall we will be offering free homework help for your children while you workout! This program is available to members in 1st through 8th grades. They will be tutored by volunteers from local high schools and colleges. If interested, please call the Youth Activities Center Voicemail Line at 426-6210 ex: 3345 with your child’s grade, subject matter, and preferred day and time from the available times below. We will then give you a call by September 27 for your first tutoring time.

ARTS AND HUMANITIESExpress Yourself Art Classes for KidsChildren will learn about how to incorporate certain elements of art into their artwork, as well as learning about famous artists and the techniques they used. Artwork will be created using many different mediums. These classes will be taught by individuals with Art Degrees.

Spanish for KidsChildren will learn small phrases as well as colors, numbers, and the alphabet from enthusiastic tutors from USI’s Modern and Classical Languages Department. Children will also learn about Spanish culture and have a fiesta at the end of each session to celebrate what they have learned! Classes will be fun and effective for every child!

Homeschool Spanish The downtown YMCA will now be offering weekly Spanish classes to homeschool students. These classes will utilize supplemental resources for extra practice, interactive lessons on the computer, also homework, quizzes and tests for better retention. These classes will be comparable to a University style curriculum.

Riptides Swim TeamOn the YMCA swim team, everyone is a champion. The emphasis is on having fun and doing one’s best. The team is open to all children ages 6-18. Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping, have the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke, and complete at least an hour practice. A free trial period is available for those kids who want to try the team for a week.

Riptides Stroke Technique ClinicThis month long clinic is an excellent introduction to the sport of competitive swimming and is a great lead up for any swimmer wishing to participate with the YMCA Riptides swim team. It’s also a great way for current swim team members to brush up on their skills. Participants will be presented with the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and introduced to various drills and workouts for each. This class meets 3 days per week.

High School Swim ConditioningThis class will focus on conditioning for your high school swimming season. Swimmers will focus on improving competitive swimming skills, which will include racing starts, flip turns, stroke mechanics and endurance. Each session will consist of a half hour of dry land training followed by an hour of pool work. This program meets three days per week. Program begins September 13 until high school swim season begins.

Youth Sports Programs

All Star Clinic This clinic is designed for 3-5 year olds. Participants will be introduced to several sports throughout the session. Sports may include indoor soccer, basketball, Tee-ball, kickball, football, and more. Scan the code to the right to see our kids at play.

Toddler All-Stars This class is designed to keep your toddler active! Children will have fun playing in the gym while learning basic sports skills, fun movement, songs and character values. Each week we will focus on a new sport. Ages walking–3 years old

Youth SoccerThis eight week co-ed league is a great educational experience for young players to learn a new sport and have FUN in a non-competitive environment. Players will learn teamwork and sportsmanship. The league is divided by ages: Pee Wee (ages 3-4), Kickers (ages 5-6) & Jugglers (ages 7-8). Youth Basketball Personal TrainingTake your basketball game to the next level with 15 year veteran basketball trainer, Troy Sowders. As a basketball instructor, he has over 15,000 hours of personal training experience plus countless hours of camp, clinic, league and team instruction.

ZumbAtomicZumbAtomic is the perfect way to show kids how exercising, dancing and staying fit can be a blast! This class is a Latin American inspired kids’ dance-fitness program with a little international flavor thrown in the mix. In this class we dance, get fit, play games, laugh and have a lot of fun. This is exercise in disguise.
