Membership Details

The YMCA offers quality programs andservices designed to benefit people of allincomes, ages, genders and backgrounds. It isour pledge, within the available resources ofthe YMCA, to provide services to individualsregardless of the ability to pay. Assistance isavailable for programs and membership.

Child Watch (Nursery)*Ages 6 months to 6 years

YMCA Child Watch is a nursery service forYMCA members' children while their parentsare in the facility. Members must have aFamily or Single Parent Family Membership toutilize Child Watch. There is no charge for thisservice and it may be used for up to two hoursper visit.

Financial Assistance

Facility RentalsThe YMCA is a great place to have your next party or meeting. Besure to book your party early; the prime times fill about one monthin advance. The pool, gymnasiums, and community rooms areavailable for rental. Call either the Downtown or Dunigan FamilyYMCA for availability and pricing.

For YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have theoption of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds andcredits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at theMember Service Desk or from the program director.

Children are introduced to anaquatic environment and parents and childrenlearn basic water safety skills. While some basicswimming skills are taught, this class is not atraditional swim lesson.

Ray $32 (FM) / $54 (PM)(3-5 years of age) Rays should be able to paddle on front, back, and side 15 feet without supportand feel comfortable in deep water. Breathing strokes and sitting dives will be taught.

Starfish $32 (FM) / $54 (PM)(3-5 years of age) Students must be able to swim 20 feet without support on the front, back, andside. The focus is on increasing endurance and independence. Kneeling dives will be taught.

Private / Semi-Private Swim LessonsPrivate swimming instruction is available for those children whofeel a one-on-one lesson with an instructor is preferred. Lessonsare designed to give participants individualized attention in orderto improve or master their swimming skills. Call to set up specifictimes and days. Available at Downtown and Dunigan.

Riptides Swim TeamThe YMCA swim team is for those kids, ages 5 to 18, who wish to participate in a healthy,positive, competitive swimming program with an emphasis on stroke improvement andteamwork. Practices are held in the evenings and weekends. Children must be able to swim 1length of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool. A free trial period isavailable for those kids who want to try the team for a week. Please visit www.ymcariptides.comfor practice days and times and to print off your free trial card.

Riptides Stroke Technique ClinicThis month long clinic is an excellent introduction to the sport of competitive swimming and is agreat lead up for any swimmer wishing to participate with the YMCA Riptides swim team. It’salso a great way for current swim team members to brush up on their skills. Participants will bepresented with the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and introduced to various drillsand workouts for each. This class meets 3 days per week. All skill levels welcome!

GuardStartThe American Red Cross GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow course is designed to prepare 11-14 year olds to take the Red Cross Lifeguarding certification program (when they reach the age of15) and for future work as lifeguards. The GuardStart program helps participants build afoundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills that they will need to be responsible lifeguards.Lessons are grouped into five main areas: prevention, fitness, response, leadership andprofessionalism.

Lifeguard TrainingThe American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is approximately a 31 hour course which providesparticipants with the knowledge, skills and training necessary to become a lifeguard. Participantsmust be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course.

High School Swim ConditioningThis class will focus on conditioning for high school swimming seasons. Swimmers will focus onimproving competitive swimming skills, which include racing starts, flip turns, stroke mechanicsand endurance.

Wellness Center OrientationsMembers are encouraged to sign up for orientations on the use of cardiovascular and weighttraining equipment. Appointments can be made at the Wellness Desk.

Youth Wellness OrientationAll YMCA members ages 12-13 MUST complete this orientation class to use the Dunigan FamilyYMCA Wellness Center. The orientation will provide information such as proper use of equipment,safety and how exercise affects the body. The participant will also learn how to set up a fitnessprogram and use the cardiovascular and weight training equipment with proper technique. Pre-registration is required prior to the day of the class.

Buddy Personal TrainingHave you always wanted to try personal training, but did not have the motivation to go solo? Nowyou don’t have to! We now offer buddy personal training. A YMCA certified Personal Trainer willwork with you and a buddy to create a fun workout designed just for you, all while providingaccountability, encouragement, and social support. Conditioning for Teen AthletesThis program, led by a YMCA certified Personal Trainer, will coach high school athletes through asystematic routine that will help them to develop a higher level of athletic preparation, focusing oninjury reduction and improving performance through the use of progressively more demandingexercises. In this program, strength is developed with the intent of improving sport skills. Thisprogram includes strength assessment, upper and lower body strength progressions, torsotraining, plyometric training and balance progressions.

Ultimate Fitness Boot CampFocusing on pushing you outside your comfort zone, past where you can push yourself, thisintense, drill-oriented class is designed to provide cardiovascular work as well as strength trainingusing various fitness tools! Come ready to be challenged on the new sports fields at Dunigan anddon’t forget your water bottle and sunscreen. Women’s Strength TrainingStrength training is a critical component of any fitness program. It helps to prevent osteoporosisas well as increase metabolism. YMCA Weight Loss Support GroupOur YMCA Weight Loss Support Group is about real-life weight management. A new topic will be discussed each week focusing on accountability, activity,sensible eating and self-empowerment.

Women’s Wellness WeekendThe YMCA is excited to offer this educational and fun wellness retreat forwomen ages 14 and older who want to start, continue or enhance theirwellness. This retreat, held at beautiful Camp Carson, will featureworkshops, lectures and activities on various wellness topics, including nutrition, exercise andrelaxation. Get away from the stress and join us for a weekend devoted to your spiritual, mentaland physical health. Activities will include traditional camp activities as well as makeovers,massages, various fitness classes, and much more! All meals and lodging included.

Off-Season Tri TrainingAre you a triathlete or wanting to become one? This program is for you! Join us for "brick night"each Thursday where we will be swimming then cycling indoors. Your instructor will teachswimming drills, proper stroke techniques and lead you through swim workouts followed by anexciting group cycling session.

After family dinners (other meals), turn on music and dance,play musical chairs, or make up a family dance routine/skitthat you practice a couple of evenings a week.

Half-Day Preschool ProgramsWe provide an opportunity for children 2-5 years of age to participate in a half day preschoolprogram. Teachers will provide hands on experience for your child while developing basic socialand academic skills in a Christian environment. These classes run September through May andfollow the EVSC school calendar. A non-refundable $40 deposit is due upon enrollment. Tuitionis paid monthly and is due the first day of each month.
