FOUR-year-old triplets are living in fear aftertheir bedroom was destroyed by an out-of-control car that crashed into their Cranbournehome last week.
Elyssa, Nikkol and Lilli were asleep in theirGolden Wattle Court home about 7.45am lastTuesday when a neighbours ute careeredthrough their front window, sending bricksand glass flying across the room.
Police said the neighbour had been reversingout of his driveway when he clipped apowerbox before going through the back fenceand into the childrens room.
The childrens father, David Letts, said hethought the worst when he saw the roomcovered in rubble. I just heard them scream-ing, I was petrified.
Lilli, who was sleeping furthest from thewindow, was trapped under a sheet of glassdislodged by the impact.
We thought shes [Lilli] gone, she wasntmoving nothing, Mr Letts said. I justthanked God, someones looking after them.
Her parents believe Lilli was knocked outbriefly. Elyssa and Nikkol suffered cuts andbruises.
Mr Letts said he didnt want his children tosleep in the room again, fearing there could beanother accident.
I tell you what, I really dont want to livehere any more, I really dont. Im still awakehalf the night making sure everythings OK.
The children stayed away from kindergartenlast week as they recovered from the traumaticexperience.
Mother Rachel Welsh said the children werestill very paranoid.
Theyre worried about cars and they expectit to happen again, she said.
It was the second miracle the trio survived,MsWelsh said.
Born premature at 28 weeks, the childrenspent their first two months of life in hospital, one of them suffering pneumonia.
The incident is being investigated by policeand so far no charges have been laid.
