Picture: Ted Kloszynski FOUR-year -old triplets are living in fear after their bedroom was destroyed by an out-of- control car that crashed into their Cranbourne homelast week. Elyssa, Nikkol and Lilli were asleep in their Golden Wattle Court home about 7.45am last Tuesday when a neighbour’s ute careered through their front window, sending bricks andglassflyi ngacrosstheroom. Police said the neighbour had been reversing out of his driveway when he clipped a power box befor e going throu gh the backfence and intothe child ren’ s room. The children’s father, David Letts, said he ‘‘thought the worst’’ when he saw the room covered in rubble. ‘‘I just heard them scream- ing,I was petri fied.’ Lilli, who was sleeping furthest from the window, was trapped under a sheet of glass dislo dgedby theimpact. ‘‘We thought she’s [Lilli] gone, she wasn’t moving — nothing,’’ Mr Letts said. ‘‘I just thanke d God,someone’ s looki ng afterthem.’ Her parents believe Lilli was knocked out briefly. Elyssa and Nikkol suffered cuts and bruises. Mr Letts said he didn’t want his children to slee p in theroom agai n, fear ing the re coul d be another accident. ‘‘I tell you what, I really don’t want to live here any more, I really don’t. I’m still awake halfthe nightmaking sureeverythin g’ s OK.’ The child ren stayed a way fromkindergarte n last week as they recovered from the traumatic experience. Mother Rachel Welsh said the children were still ‘‘veryparanoid’’. ‘‘ They’ re worri ed aboutcars and theyexpect itto hap penagain ,’ shesaid. It was the second miracle the trio survived, Ms Wel sh said. Born premature at 28 weeks, the children spent their first two months of life in hospital, oneof themsufferingpneumon ia. The incident is being investigated by police andso farno charge s have bee n lai d.

    FOUR-year-old triplets are living in fear aftertheir bedroom was destroyed by an out-of-control car that crashed into their Cranbournehome last week.

    Elyssa, Nikkol and Lilli were asleep in theirGolden Wattle Court home about 7.45am lastTuesday when a neighbours ute careeredthrough their front window, sending bricksand glass flying across the room.

    We thought shes [Lilli] gone, she wasntmoving nothing, Mr Letts said. I justthanked God, someones looking after them.

    Her parents believe Lilli was knocked outbriefly. Elyssa and Nikkol suffered cuts andbruises.

    Mr Letts said he didnt want his children tosleep in the room again, fearing there could beanother accident.

    I tell you what, I really dont want to livehere any more, I really dont. Im still awakehalf the night making sure everythings OK.

    The children stayed away from kindergartenlast week as they recovered from the traumaticexperience.

    Mother Rachel Welsh said the children werestill very paranoid.

    Theyre worried about cars and they expectit to happen again, she said.

    It was the second miracle the trio survived,MsWelsh said.

    Born premature at 28 weeks, the childrenspent their first two months of life in hospital,one of them suffering pneumonia.

    The incident is being investigated by policeand so far no charges have been laid.
