Secondary District Athletics Congratulations to the students that participated in the District Athletics on Thursday 13th September. An extra congratulations to those student that competed in events at short notice. We have 6 students that won their events and will go to region finals in October. Well done to Tihema (7J), Dylan (7K), Rua (8A), James (8H), Felicity (8H) and Shaylen (10G). Well done to the following students for breaking records: Felicity – 15 Girls High Jump & Triple Jump, Dylan – 12-13 boys High Jump and Rua – 12-13 boys 400m.

Congratulations, the College Aerobics Team came 2nd in Australia at the Nationals!

The team flew up to Queensland with their coaches, Ms Jones and Ms Maschette and competed on Sunday 26th August. The team represented the school with great PRIDE and brought home the silver medal. Well done to the students and coaches, we are all very proud of you!

Year 7 Interschool Debate teams A huge congratulations to our Year 7 inter-school debate teams, competing in their very first inter-school debate. The topic was ‘That female athletes should get the same pay and conditions as male athletes’ with both our teams on the Negative side of the debate.

Narre Warren South P-12 College 1 won their debate against Drouin Secondary College 2 by 2 points. Well done to Caitlin Smart of 7L for being award ‘Best Speaker’ in this debate. Her team mates, Adam Qasim (7L) and Aasith Dhinaharan (7L) also did an exceptional job.

Narre Warren South P-12 College 2 lost their debate against Drouin Secondary College 1 by just 1 point. Well done to Komal Kaur Bedi (7G) for receiving equal ‘Best Speaker’ in this debate. Both Zainab Rehman (7G) and Zainab Fayazi (7A) were brilliant.

An amazing effort from some very talented students. Well done team. On to round 2!

Year 7 Boys Badminton

Congratulations to the Year 7 boys badminton team who reached the pinnacle of Government Schools Badminton competition at the State Championships. This is a great achievement to qualify, but even more impressive is that they came second and received a special commemorative medal to treasure for the rest of their lives. It has been a long journey that started in term 2. They became the District Champions, Regional Champions and Preliminary Champions along the way. To be this good they had to train hard and be dedicated to excellence in their chosen sport.Special mention to these players: Aadith Dhinakaran, Yash Prasad, Tennusha Kalapuge, Daniel Cincotta, Danny Cao, Cancio (Jj) Noronha.

Reading in the holidaysWhat better way to spend the holidays than catching up on some reading! We highly recommend a visit to one of our public libraries which offer many fun activities over the holidays, as well as lots of lovely books to borrow. Or you could download one of our e-books to read on a device. For more information go to our College homepage, click on Menu - Community - Library then on the Casey Cardinia Library link or the e-Platform link. All students from Gr 4 - Yr 12 can access the e-book library. Your username is your student code and your password is library1. Contact library staff for more information.

Chess TournamentThe much anticipated annual chess tournament will commence in the library on Tuesday 11th September. It is open to students from Prep - Yr 12 and is free to enter so if you would like to participate please come to the library to sign up. The only rule is you must be able to play chess!!

Year 7 Handball Champions On the 27th August, the Year 7 Handball teams competed at the district level against three other schools. Both our boys and girls teams made the finals and were comfortable winners. Boys 7–4 and the Girls 8–1. All students represented our school values and showed great sportsmanship throughout the day.

Year 7 Hockey On the 27th August, Mr Kromlidis sent 9 boys and 4 girls to the Casey South Division Year 7 Hockey Championship. Our boys and girls mixed teams couldn’t field full teams so they happily combined. They competed in the boys section.

The players were: Jagjeet S, Alisina R, Iraj N, Hayley W,Ghulam S, Anthony S, Aliriza F, Martin H, Jawid A,Zakira B, Dekodah B and Amarlee D. The team finished second with a 2-0 loss, 0-0 draw and a 1-1 finish.
