Upon returning to the field from fiirlour^h last Jvily t he proposal was made t o open a nursery school. After raanj, months o f deliberation  was decided that a mirsery school i n this area would be of bene f i t t o t h e corainunity Although t h e initial funds were borrow e d from t h e mission the school will be on a self-sustaining basis Q?he nursery school will b e opened with a inaiciiuura o f 5 0 pupils. This i i ; - he number that o u r present facilities will allow. There vrill b e t wo women teachers handling t w o classes besides Fir, Oofuchiand Ernest i n charge o f t he school. Th e school v;ill b e operated on a year-round basis v.-ith tvxo weeks vacation during t h e year o n e week i n t he summer a n d o n e week the first week of the yeC'r, T h e hours a r e arranged f o r the benefit o f mothers w 6 work. Dear Bojs and Girls ,This is the ice skating sea

son in Obihiro, All the schoolyards are flooded and the boysand gir ls skate at recess andnoon tirae. Almost every one

in school carries his skatesover his shoulder and a bookbag on his back. Linda hassome skates but she i s toosoared to get out on the icewith them. Chucky t r ied themon once but he couldn't keephis feet under him and he satdown hard . Another time hewent head f i r s t and Mora almostlanded on top of him, Puniwhow easy i t looks before yout ry on the ska tes .

We have an upstairs on ourhouse now. One room is forour school , -rfhen we s t a r t edin September we studied in thekitchen because the upstairswasn't done yet. I t was verycrowded with our desks in thekitchen and we are glad we^ve a school room, Linda isIn the fourth grade, Chucky in

the f i r s t and Allan in kindergarten, Sometimes we study toother. When we studied aboutlet ters Linda gave a report onthe Post Office and i t s work»Then we all helped make pic-txires to show how our l e t te rst r ave l from here to Grandmo

Right after school was out in I.!aywe made pl.mo to f^o to Tol-yo fo r the

convention, Vfe altvays look fon/ardto this trip. When we go to Tokyowe can see several of our Japanese

Sapporo camp, Allan got the bes t ofus thouf^h because he had an airplane

Yesterday ( August 30, Daddy's

birthday) we returned from a two-dayfamily camp a t a small lake i;0 milesno r th o f he re .
