    Ernes t D. Fabe r is th e son o fMr. & Mrs'. Harvey Faber of Min-burn, Iowa. He was born nearMinburn, on August 30, 1926, and.spent most of his life in and aroundthat region. While serving in theArmy, he spent several monthswith the occupational forces inJapan. He graduated from theCincinnati Bible Seminary in 1952and completed a year of additionalstudy in May of this year. He served as m in is te r o f th e F o u r thChurch of Christ in Cincinnati,Ohio, prior to beginning his travelsfo r the Hokkaido Chr is t ian Miss ion.His wife, Neva Ellen (Fate), isth e daughter of Mrs. Delia Fate,and a native of Clay Center, Nebraska. She was bom April 24,1928. She taught in the elementryschools of Nebraska prior to entering the C incinn ati B ible S em inary. She graduated in May of1951. During her years a t theSeminary and following her graduation, she was active in the youthwork a t Columbia Church o f C h ris tin Cincinnat i . Ern e s t and Nevawere married June 13, 1952.Their daugh te r, L inda Ell en was bornin Cincinnati, Ohio, March 2, 1953.

    On July 12 , 1953, the Fabersm et wi th the Second Church ofChrist in Danville, Illinois. Ernesttold of the plans for the HokkaidoChri s t i an Miss ion and showedslides of the field at the eveningservice. After hearing of theFaber ' s work the church decidedto pledge Linda's entire support.Thus they have adopted her astheir livinglink missionary. C. We in this busy worldseldom pause long enough to hearthe call t h a t comes f rom thoset h a t are outs ide of Christ .Many of the neighboring communi t i e s a re wi thou t a churchafter the New Testament pattern.On th e dis tant shores are the Indians, Afr icans, Japanese and every[nationality upon the face of theearth. On every side are peoplewho have neve r nam ed th e nameo f Ch ri st a s t he i r Sav iour . One andall are calling for the light of thegospel of Chri st . Thi s call can andmust be heard by al l who are following the Lord Jesus.If we would a ll put Christ f ir st ,committing our whole lives to theLord, the call would be answered.Many would answer in the wordsof the hymn, "send the light."Others would answer as did Isaiah,"Here am I, Lord, send me." Someare going "over the restless wave"What will you do? Nothing?SEND? OR GO?

    HOKKAIDO, A HARVEST FIELD

    Hokka ido is th e n or th ern m ostisland of Japan which is untouched by New Tes tament Chr is ti anity. Here approximately 4,000,000people reside in an area of 34,080square miles, which is about thesize o f Ind iana . Hokkaido is alaaido f f ishermen , miners , lumbermen ,farmers and their families. Theydwell mainly in small villagescrowded along the coastline. Butthere are four cities of la rg e p roportion, namely Hokodate (228,994)Sapparo(206,103), Otaru (164,282)and Kushira (93,367). ThelFabersplan to begin their evangelisticefforts in the city of Kushira onthe eastern seacoast. (Note the xon the map above.) Here the clima t e is somewha t mi lde r th an th einterior where the temperaturedrops as low as 40 degrees belowzero.

    Cincinnati, Ohio, to begin a tourof the churches in behalf of theHokkaido Chr i s t i an Miss ion. A tthe close of September they hadcovered a distance of 8,000 miles.T heir summer t our included churches in Iowa, Illinois, Ind iana , andNebraska . Five weeks of the summer were spent in Christian Service Camps.During the summer they parkedtheir house trailer a t Minburn,Iowa, on Ernest 's father 's farm.Since Linda was only a few monthsold, Mrs. Faber did not attemptto travel constantly with Ernest.Minburn remains as their address,although they are now living intheir home on wheels as they visitth e chu rches
