Dear Chr i s t i an Fr i ends ,

The time that we have been awaiting has nearly arrived. This will be the l as t let te rthat you will receive from us before we sail for Japan. I am sure you remember thatwe are to leave from San Francisco on June 7, onthe President Wilson. Please keep usin mind in your prayers and, also, remember us with your letters. Greetings to us as

we leave may be addressed as fo llows:Ernest Faber, Cabin class T-3

American Pres iden t Lines

301 California StreetSan Francisco, Cal i fo rn ia

As you well know there is a lot of preparation when one gets ready to go to Jap^. Inorder to receive our visa we had to have a le t te r oforganization in Japan, letter from a supporting church, letters of physical fitness,as well as the various shots. I t was along the line of shots that wegreatest concern. It seems the baby, Donald Joseph, is allergic to the Th^hoia-rara-Thyphoid shots, l-fhen he received his first one he had such a violent reaction that itwas necessary to hosoitalize him for one day. He, also, had a reaction to the second

shot but we were looking for i t so stayed at the doctor's office for untilhe recovered from i t . Friday he will be receiving the last of these shots. This willbe the last thing along this line that will have to be done. The visa is in hand aswell as our passport and t i cke ts .

Concerning the tickets we do wish to report that we were able to pay for them onschedule as well as most of the equipment. Funds are s t i l l needed fo r f re ight and forthe replacement of the car in lieu of taking it back to Japan. Probably $1500 will^beneeded for these things. Undoubtedly some of this is on hand at the forwarding office. We thank you kind folk fo r your interest in our work in Japan.

We continue to be in need of living-link for the two youngest children. We would liketo have $25 per month for Allan and Donald. Needless to say, additional pledged sup

port is needed to continue and enlarge the radio program, the printing ministry ando t h e r a c t i v i t i e s i n th e work t h e r e .

Since writing last Ernest has visited with churches in Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee,Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Among places visited were the GeorgiaMissionary Rally and The North American Christian Convention. Ernest just returnedSunday from the fellowship with many friends at the North American where the HokkaidoChristian Mission had a booth. In the meantime, Neva did some visiting in Nebraskaincluding a visi t to the Missionary Rally at Norfolk, Nebraska.

The closing weeks in America will be spent-as,follows: April 30, A.M., Stillwater andP.M., Cleveland, Oklahoma; May 2-5, Kaimichi clinic; May 7, A.M., Memphis, Texas andP.M., Yale, Oklahoma; May 14, P.M., Council Bluffs, Iowa; May 21, A.M. and afternoon

homecoming and farewell at Minburn, Iowa; May 24, Bagley, Iowa; May 28 A.M., Glenrock,Wyoming and P.M., Riverton, Wyoming; May 31, Stockton, California; June 4, PleasantHi l l , Cal i fo rn ia .

Please remember us as we return to our field of service, VJe should be in Obihiro bythe middle of July at the latest. We will writs you as soon as possible after wea r r i v e on th e f i e l d .

Mr Suzuki of the Mbiwashita church and Ife*. Oofuchi took the body by car to theboy's home some 2 hours drive from Sapporo, The police had already informedthe family of the death before their arrivals tiro Suauici and Walicor ofSapporo and Oofuchi and myself from here were present for the f-aneral whichwas from R?iday evening until Saturday aftornoono On PViday, after our arrival, the family requested that we sing some of the songs the boy had siing at camp—•in spite of the fact that they were a EuddJaist family,, That evening at theservice wo had a Christian service following the priest 's departure„ At thefuneral the next day the priest was surprised to ioarn that the family requested us to have a hymn, prayer and scripture reading during th-? funeral conrice.

It seems the boy the year before had used son^ of the money ho was given to goto the Shinto "big festival" and bought a song book at a tent revival meeting.I t Was because of his continual pleading that he was allowed to go to campa

Knowing of the boy's inter es t in Christianity the-ptjponts vrore anxious to havea service that t hey thought the boy wou ld lil-ce^

There is a Christian family from the vrork in Sapporo novr living at this torncalled Sunagawa (sand river). Because of the interest of Christianity and atthe invitation of the Christian family as well as the boy*s fcnaly we starteda work at this place, Mr, Oofuchi is loading in the worktherof, ViTe began thevrork with a four days evangelistic meetingo Attendance averaged around 25-30 each night. Among those in attendance vj-ere the parents of the boy and thefather's employer's wife and other near-by fr iends of the familyc Services willbe continued with the hope of establishing a diurch in this tOT/n of 30,000 people, "All things work for good to them that love the Lorde"

After the camp at Sapporo we had our ovm camp here on a much smaller scale.

There were 3k in attendance at the camp here, which was held at the T,?, tov/ersome 30 minutes by bus from Obihiro, The 19$9 T-Vopet, that I bought vdth themoney from the sale of the American Plamblcr̂ was delivered in time to use i t forcamp.

During the week of August 13 we were busy getting ready for the evangelisticmeeting to be hold here, Mr, Suzuki from Sapporo spoke two of the four nightsand I had two of the services.
