Game NotesLast Time Out: The Soaring Eagles dropped their first Em-pire 8 Conference game of the season, losing to No. 19 Ithaca College, 1-0. EC kept the strong Bomber offense at bay for most of the first half, but a long-distance goal in the 41st minute was the difference in the game.

Top-10 for EC: Elmira’s goaltenders have seen their fair share of shots this season, but they have been turning away those opportunities at an impressive rate. Between the two keepers, Elmira has stopped 64 of the 69 shots on goal, which equates to a .928 save percentage, the 10th best save percentage in all of NCAA Division III women’s soccer.

Top-20 for Carmona: Gabe Carmona ’18 has had a strong start to her rookie campaign, allowing five goals in five starts while making 53 saves. Her .914 save percentage puts her in elite company as she ranks 18th in the nation in that category.

Friendly Confines: EC has historically been a strong team when playing at Campus Field and that has remained true in the two previous home matchups with the Ducks, in 2010 and 2012. The Purple and Gold won those games by identical 2-1 scores and oddly enough, the game-winning goal in each game was scored around the 65th minute.

Looking Ahead: The Soaring Eagles remain at home for a non-conference matchup with Fredonia State on Tuesday, September 30th at 4:00 p.m.

Game NotesLast Time Out: The Ducks of Stevens Tech picked up their second win in a row by defeating Drew University, 2-0, on September 24th. Raba Nassif ’17 started things off in the 16th minute and then Ann Heine ’15, who assisted on the first goal of the day, added an insurance goal in the 55th minute, leading the Ducks to a 2-0 victory.

Nassif Near the Top: Raba Nassif ’17 is leading Stevens in scoring, netting seven goals and adding one assist for 15 to-tal points. Her 15 points is second in the Empire 8 Confer-ence, trailing only Houghton’s Stephany Ellison, while her seven goals scored, as well as her 1.00 goal per game average, both rank second in the conference, again only behind El-lison.

Strong Goaltending: Newcomer Lindsey Mahnken ’18 has stepped in as the starting goaltender and has solidified her spot as one of the best goalkeepers in the Empire 8. She has allowed just five goals in 540 minutes of play, ranking second in the conference in goals against average (0.83) and shutouts (3).

Series History: The history between EC and Stevens dates back to the 2007 season, when the Ducks joined the Empire 8 Conference. In the seven years since becoming a confer-ence member, Stevens holds a 5-2 record, winning the first three from 2007-09 before alternating wins with the Soaring Eagles since 2010.
