Game NotesLast Time Out: The Soaring Eagles evened both their over-all and Empire 8 Conference records after defeating Stevens Tech, 3-1, on Saturday. Sara Kazerouni ’18 sparked the come-back with back-to-back goals, just seven minutes apart from each other, to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead late in the second half. Mackenzie Donohue ’15 added her second goal of the season in the 89th minute to seal the EC victory.

The Super Sub: Sara Kazerouni ’18 is averaging just over 12 minutes on the field per game, but she has certainly made the most of her time, leading the Soaring Eagles with three goals, including two game-winning goals. Her two-goal outburst in only 13 minutes of play paved the way for EC’s 3-1 win over Stevens Tech while her 86th minute goal against Clarkson University lifted Elmira to a 1-0 win on September 12th.

Oh Captain, My Captain: Second-year captain Mackenzie Donohue ’15 has been a stabilizing force in the center of EC’s midfield for the last few seasons, but it is her offensive production that has elevated Elmira’s level of play in 2014. She already has career-highs in points and goals, with five and two, respectively, while adding one assist.

Looking Ahead: Elmira completes their three-game home-stand on Saturday, October 4th when the Soaring Eagles host Nazareth College in an Empire 8 matchup. The game is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.

Game NotesLast Time Out: The Blue Devils of Fredonia State come into today’s contest with a 3-5 record after falling to SUNY Brock-port, 2-1, on Saturday. All of the scoring came in the first half, starting with a goal in the 11th minute by Brockport to take a 1-0 lead. Fredonia State’s Kaleigh Creeden ’17 an-swered in the 28th minute to tie the game at one, but the Golden Eagles retook the lead for good just 54 seconds later.

Formidable Trio: The Blue Devils boast a three-headed attack, featuring sisters Kristie Kleine ’17 and Katie Kleine ’15 as well as Alexis Moreland ’17. Kristie Kleine leads the way with nine points on four goals and one assist, ranking sixth in the SU-NYAC in goals scored. She is followed by Moreland who has eight points on three goals and two assists, while Katie Kleine has tallied seven points on three goals and one assist.

Series History: EC and Fredonia State have played each year since the 2004 season, with Fredonia State owning an 8-1-1 record in those 10 games. The Soaring Eagles won the first game of the series in 2004, but have lost eight of the last nine, including seven straight, to the Blue Devils.

Road Woes: Fredonia State has had no problems playing on their home turf this season, going 2-1 with two shutout wins, but the Blue Devils have not been as fortunate away from home, posting a 1-3 record while being outscored 10-4.
