Parliamentary groups in the Government coali-tion, comprising Demo-crats, Liberals and Com-

mitted Citizens, yesterday in-troduced a modification to the proposed Family and Personality Act, which if there is no unforese-en outcome will be endorsed by the General Council, and, among other measures, provides for a re-duction in the length of time for divorce. It will go from the requi-rement set forth in the current legislation to justify three years of cohabitation of the couple to request that three months have elapsed since the marriage.

According to the groups, this will end the need to justify the de-cision by looking for «causes and culprits» in the couple crisis, and in this sense, there is no need to follow a first process of separati-on from the spouses to obtain a divorce. .
