On the other hand, those referring to ci- vil servants increased from 1,860 to 1,685, which represents a reducti- on of 9.4%. According to Statistics, the increase in contract staff is due to the cove- rage of vacancies of previous years, as well as of new recruitment place- ments provided for in the prescri- bed period in 2018. The president of the Public Educa- tion Union, Anna Mundó, affirms that the government «escaped from the hands» of the management of the growth of teachers at school, although it is hopeful that this si- tuation will change soon, as this is shown by the year-on-year reduc- tion regarding this type of hiring. In this sense, Mundó is hopeful for the announcement of the Minis- ter of Education and Higher Edu- cation, Ester Vilarrubla, to open 70 new edicts for permanent staff in the Education sector during this le- gislature. Up to 1,072,000 people vi-sited the Principality this summer, up 3.8% more than last year. This was

explained yesterday by the mana-ger of Andorra Turisme, Betim Bud-zaku, explaining that the final figu-re exceeded the initial forecasts set to a maximum of 1,046,000 visitors. «It’s more than we expected since taking into account the difficulties of neighboring countries was a cha-llenge to overcome the goal,» said Budzaku. In the same vein, the Tou-rism Minister, Verónica Canals, ma-de a very positive assessment of the season, highlighting the change in the way of communicating abro-ad: «We increasingly communicate online and we have strived to show us as a mountain destination with the commitment to stretch the au-tochthonous offer, beyond skiing,» explained the minister. Despite ove-rall satisfaction, in September, a slight decrease of 1.6% was experi-enced, which, according to the ma-nager, was offset by the number of visitors in June that exceeded 17%.With regard to nationality, both Budzaku and Canals highlighted for the first time the influx of Italians, although the French market «costs more to grow». «France is more ato-mized in terms of communication and we have to find new, more spe-cific ways. It is not a question of com-municating massively but of getting the experience «, clarified Channels.

SHOPPING FESTIVAL / Andorra Turisme took advantage of the presentati-on of the summer season balance to present the new Andorra Shopping Festival campaign to be held from 8 to 17 November. For the first time, the event will not take place during the All Saints bridge because by that date «people are already normally in the country» and «what we are lo-oking for is to fill weekends where there are no other celebrations hig-hlighted», clarified Budzaku .

The number of visitors in the summer grows by 3.8% and exceeds one millionCanals guarantee the return of Cirque du Soleil, «provided there is a location available»

In total, 70 activities will be held be-tween Andorra la Vella, Escaldes-En-gordany and Encamp (Pas de la Ca-sa). The Andorran Tourism Manager announced that there will be con-certs of music on the street (of the 29 groups that will participate, 14 will be Andorrans), as well as all kinds of children’s activities. In addition, up to nine statues of Minnie Mouse will be distributed along the avenues of Carlemany and Meritxell, taking over the relief from those of Mickey from last year. The budget allocated for this edition is 603,000 euros.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL / The top manager of the tourism portfolio also announ-ced that the return of Cirque du So-leil to the country is currently being negotiated. The only thing that re-mains to be specified, however, is

«We have worked hard to show ourselves as a mountain destination with the commitment to stretch the autochthonous offer.»

In the face of the possibility that this weekend will take place ro-adside cuts in Catalonia as a pro-test of the sentencing of politi-cal prisoners, the Government is concerned. «In Andorra 55% of GDP is tourism and it is very difficult to move forward and make trade live when we have access to the country closed», re-gretted the Minister of Tourism, Verónica Canals. 1.5% increase in the number of registered active businesses

The increase registered in the third quarter of 2019 is explained by the positive balance that, during this pe-riod, has shown the net creation of establishments, identified as the dif-ference between highs and losses, by registering 231 new ones and registe-ring 104 losses. The sectors that con-tributed most to this increase were real estate and rental activities; busi-ness services (+ 2.5% and 63 additional net establishments of which 14 were related to real estate activities and 49

with business services). Other social activities and services provided to the community; Personal services (+ 2.5% and 14 establishments) and Trade and repair of motor vehicles (+ 0.5% and 14 establishments).

In terms of comparison with the previous quarter, the pace of the number of establishments in the fourth quarter of 2019 accelerated, as they experienced a positive varia-tion of 29.1%, while the drops in es-tablishments were lower than the re-cords observed in the second quarter of 2019 (134 establishments). Peig’s collection consists of about 66,000 images and on this

The idea of the project arose as a result of its digitalization, proving that «there were a series of photographs that had never been published or bro-adcast and that much they would probably never be known, simply, because of the prejudice of being politically incorrect,» says Isidre Es-corihuela, technician at the ANA

and we move fifty years in time, we can experience one of the ma-gicians of historical photography: the temporary displacement».

Peig, accompanied by his as-sistant Manolo Barros, did an X-ray of Andorran society. You can see, among others, the visits of the co-princes, the choice of Miss Europa, fashion shows, dinners, grills or elements that no longer exist, such as the bullring of Es-caldes-Engordany. All under the watchful eye of Peig, who was waiting for the concrete moment to click on his camera. «It is that key moment when it comes to ta-king the image in which the photo-grapher is invisible to the actors of the scene, the proximity camou-flaged with that point of the chan-ce to freeze the murky gaze, the spontaneous gesture, laughter unleashed or sadness. But, wha-tever it is, it must be there to be able to capture it», emphasizes Es-corihuela.

An era of the country remains for eternity thanks to the images of Peig. The writer Albert Villa-ró highlights all his work, becau-se «we can not illustrate Andorra from the fifties to the eighties wit-hout its clear, acute, always well-placed perspective, with an im-pressive sense of opportunity and the mastery of stage design. This is a graphic description of a cen-tral period in the construction of Andorra. » In this collection, the photos that «never were publis-hed, those that have not appea-red in any anthology, in any exhi-bition, anywhere. We already know the of-ficial history, they have already taught us. Now we have the op-portunity to see the whirlwinds, the other history, the grotesque part that acts as a counterpoint to such solemnity.» H
