Edgenuity MyPath™ is a supplemental intervention program designed for students in grades 6–12. MyPath

provides instruction on reading and math skills and concepts from grades 3-11.

Each student’s program is determined by a placement exam. Based on student performance on this exam, the

system recommends an Individualized Learning Path (ILP). Each ILP features direct instruction videos, interactive

tasks, activities, and robust practice with immediate feedback. All learning paths further adapt instruction

dynamically by allowing students to move past any content they have already mastered. Content is age-

appropriate and respectful of middle and high school-age students.

The program includes:

A placement exam to determine each student’s starting path in the program

Instruction tailored to students’ ability levels

o Foundational ILPs

Curriculum Overview

Edgenuity’s MyPath intervention provides data-driven differentiated instruction in mathematics and reading, for

middle and high school students spanning skills and concepts from grade 3-11. MyPath is designed to meet

students at their learning level and give them exactly what they need to catch up, keep up, and get ahead.

Students are assigned to Individualized Learning Paths (ILPs) at their skill level, regardless of their grade level.

Middle schools and high schools have long received intervention materials that are not age appropriate and draw

unnecessary attention to the hindrances faced by struggling students. The lower-level content of MyPath was

designed with the interests of older learners in mind—respectful and engaging for struggling middle school and

high school students—so students can feel confident as they progress through the appropriate level of content to

meet their current needs.

Through assessments, ILPs, and detailed progress reports, MyPath provides students with age-appropriate online

lessons and gives educators the ability to monitor academic progress easily.

Placement Assessment

The initial placement assessment determines the student’s individual learning levels from third to eleventh grade.

Based on the results, our learning management system recommends an Individualized Learning Path (ILP) that

provides high-interest, age-appropriate instruction for each student. The ILP specifically addresses the identified

skill gaps. Students are assigned relevant, student-specific course content creating ideal intervention material

based on each student’s assessment results.

Placement Assessment:

As an alternative, districts utilizing NWEA’s MAP assessment can import MAP data (RIT Score). The student’s

RIT Score is then used to recommend the Individualized Learning Path.

Individualized Learning Paths

Instructional content ranges from the third-grade skill level to the eleventh-grade skill level. Lower-level content

was designed with the interests of older learners in mind—respectful, engaging, and age appropriate for

struggling middle school and high school students.

Reading

The foundational reading paths focus on comprehension strategies, while the basic and intermediate reading

paths focus on reading comprehension and literary analysis with a strong emphasis on literary nonfiction and

informational texts. Grammar, mechanics, and writing are included as it relates to reading. Advanced paths

expose students to great literature and develop critical thinking skills.

Edgenuity MyPath User Guide (continued)

The content emphasizes the close reading of complex texts, especially literary nonfiction and includes

argumentative and explanatory writing, text-dependent tasks, and tools to allow students to annotate text as they

read.

Mathematics

Math ILPs focus on the critical path to and through Algebra I. Foundational paths build students’ number sense

with whole numbers and fractions. Basic paths emphasize foundational instruction building critical algebra

readiness skills. Intermediate math paths are designed to support students in Algebra to ensure success with a

balance of lesson concepts, procedures, and application. Advanced paths are the ones for students who have

been successful in Algebra and are ready to take on more advanced mathematics study.

Content emphasizes the application of mathematical thinking to real world issues and challenges, preparing

students to think and reason mathematically. The interactive content helps students develop a depth of

understanding with the ability to apply mathematics to real world situations. Modeling and the use of mathematics

and statistics to analyze empirical situations provide students the opportunity to problem solve and improve their

decision making process. Students engage in a variety of rich multimedia sources, simulations, and labs that

enhance learning and foster comprehension.

Instructional Content

Edgenuity provides its comprehensive, interactive curriculum in a virtual learning environment with a robust

learning management system. Supports and scaffolds within the online courseware let students control the pace

of instruction, pausing and reviewing as needed or accelerating through content if they have demonstrated

mastery. Students also have access to translation tools, read-aloud, captioning, and other supports to ensure all

This new report helps instructors identify the lessons students are struggling with and identify which lessons and

activities are taking the most/least amount of time. The data will show how students are performing on lessons

that align to specific standards and help instructors identify clusters of students in the course for grouping.

The Lesson Mastery Report provides an at-a-glance view of how students are performing in all the lessons in a

course in order to identify and group students for re-teaching. For each lesson, educators can view how many

students are struggling with the lesson, how many are active in the lesson, and a number of other statistics. This

report can be filtered by standard, and it can be sorted by lesson difficulty or any other of the columns displayed.

Educators can drill into any lesson to view which students are struggling and/or active, with visibility into the

assessment questions and individual student responses for targeted, real-time intervention.

Courses: View course structures and activities, and access standards alignments. From the Manage Courses page, you can customize a course, assign it to a group of students, view all students already enrolled, and create a course exam with just a few clicks.

Reports: View and export data on student engagement, progress, and achievement. This menu also includes a one-stop dashboard report that shows teachers which students need their help and allows them to take action immediately.

Communication: Access Edgenuity’s in-system email, chat, and announcements features. Also, set up and monitor discussions in the Collaboration Corner—Edgenuity’s built-in online discussion board.

Administration: District, school, and program administrators can add and manage teacher accounts, customize the district calendar and manage schedules, and control district settings.

Support: From here, get connected to asynchronous training materials in the eCommunity. Or, use the links here to email Edgenuity’s dedicated customer support team—also available by phone.

Course StructureThe Course Structure page allows educators to view the structure and content of any course. To access the Course Structure page, simply click on Course Structures from the Courses tab, and then click on the name of the course.

Managing Students

From the Students tab, access the Manage Students page to manage student courses. Select a student first to view the student’s course list.

Add Course: Enrolls selected student in courses.

Disable: Prevents a student from working in the course that is disabled. The student can log in to the Virtual Classroom and work on all courses except the disabled course. Disabled courses can be re-enabled at a future date.

Complete: Marks the selected course as complete when the student has completed all activities and the teacher does not want the student to re-enter the course.

Customize: Enables administrators to customize courses for mass distribution or allows teachers to customize a course for an individual student.

Edit Options: Allows features within a course to be individualized for the student. Some of the individual features include passing-score thresholds, grade weights, start date, target date, quiz review method, grading methods, time limits and fail attempts for assessments, pre-test mode, etc.

Retakes: Allows educators to manage retakes for quizzes, tests, and exams.

Grades: Provides a list of all completed activities within a course and the selected student’s grades on each activity. Also provides educators with the ability to change grades, reset assignments, bypass activities, assign additional retakes for assessments, etc.

Undo Bypass: A Bypass allows the teacher to advance a student through activities without requiring the student to complete the activity in his or her sequential learning path. This can be performed from the student’s gradebook. The Undo Bypass feature provides the ability to remove the Bypass from an activity.

Scores and Activity Review: Allows educators to view student work and leave feedback for all activities students have submitted. A search feature enables users to find assessment data on specific activity types.

Insert Supplemental Activity: Inserts activities from other Edgenuity courses into individual student courses for remediation or enrichment. When supplemental activities are inserted, students must complete the supplemental activities successfully before they can return to the assigned course sequence.

Additional Activities: These are assignments that a student does outside of the Virtual Classroom that will be factored into the student’s grade for the course (presuming that the grade weight for the additional category is greater than zero).

View Course Standards: Provides access to the state standards correlations for a selected course.

Assignment Calendar: Generates a weekly assignment calendar for the student based on the start and target dates of the course.

Diagnostic Test: Allows educators to manage diagnostic testing for Virtual Tutor test preparation courses.

eNotes: Allows teachers to review eNotes that students have taken.
