Introduction

The instructions contained in this document will familiarize you with the Pyxis™ ES system

tutorials available, methods for accessing the tutorials in the BD Customer Learning Portal

(CLP), and the steps for creating training groups when you have your team complete their

training in CLP.

Refer to the table below to identify the purpose of each section of this document. Click on a

This document provides a brief overview of the course offerings available on the Pyxis ES platform Training Application to teach end users

about the Pyxis ES platform.

Pyxis™ Enterprise Server Training Series

This training series introduces how to perform the primary configurations at the Pyxis Enterprise Server. The tutorials and job aids are

organized into categories that cover the main Server configuration areas. Each tutorial or job aid covers a topic and task that is usually

performed by the Pyxis System Manager or Customer Project Team.

Pyxis™ Anesthesia ES system

These tutorials and training resources introduce how to perform

tasks at the Pyxis Anesthesia ES system and provide instruction on

pharmacy workflow processes. Each course is approximately 1.5

hours and contains a quiz that requires 80% to pass. Additionally,

the Pyxis ES Anesthesia Training Guide is available to assist in the

development and delivery of end user training.

Pyxis MedStation™ ES system Station Tutorials

There are two options for approaching training for your clinician and pharmacy audiences: a single workflow process course, or a collection of

topic-specific tutorials as appropriate for their experience and role.

Station Tutorials (Main Workflow Processes Courses)

1. CLP-ES200-N for Clinicians (nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors, ER, etc.) contains the basic workflow processes and a quiz in

one course. Recommended for new users and for refresher training. This includes the content from individual tutorials 01 through 06.

It does not include the more advanced topics of Resolving a Discrepancy and Performing Inventory. Download CLP-ES200-07 and -08

in addition to this course for more advanced users.

2. CLP-ES200-Ph for Pharmacy users contains the basic workflow processes and a quiz all in one place. Recommended for new users

and for refresher training. This includes the content from individual tutorials 01 and 07 through 16.

Individual Tutorial Courses, Assessments and Training Guide

The 16 topic-based tutorials introduce how to perform a particular task at the station. The tutorials, which can be taken independently

and out of sequence, are designed for a variety of users including nurses, clinicians, and pharmacy staff. Completion credit is given if

all pages of the tutorial are accessed. Two assessments are available – one for Clinician and one for Pharmacy – that require a passing

score of 80%. The Pyxis ES MedStation Training Guide is available to assist in the development and delivery of Super User training.

Pyxis ES Link Queue and Waste Module

This course is designed to provide clinicians and nurses with an overview of

Pyxis ES Link Queue and Waste module v1.4 including features, benefits, and

user workflows. The Resources section of this course also includes a Quick

Start Guide and Job Aids. These items may also be downloaded from the

Documents section of the course Details page. Both courses are approximately

1 hour and contain a quiz that requires 80% to pass.

System Manager Resources

This tutorial series provides Pyxis ES platform System Managers with training to equip them for their role in working with the Pyxis ES

system. The System Manager courses must be completed inside CLP, and are not available for download. All modules are approximately 1

hour and contain a quiz that requires 80% to pass.

Access Options

BD offers a variety of options for accessing training materials. In addition to initial training

when the system is installed, the Pyxis ES tutorial options support new employee training as

well as annual certification that may be required by your facility.

Individual Customer Accounts within Customer Learning Portal (CLP)

Full tutorials accessible on any PC with access to the internet.

Tutorials are accessible on any PC, even personal PC for users who wish to complete away from the work environment. The Pyxis ES platform Training Application allows users to access the tutorials on a desktop, smartphone, or tablet, and customize the training experience.

Takes 45-60 minutes to complete all tutorials, with no notice of completion in customer LMS. Users print a completion certificate for each completed tutorial and the hard-copy record is maintained to provide a training record.

Students, agency nurses who want to complete training prior to being on site. Facilities where no LMS is available.

My Groups

The Group administrator selects the training then invites users to register in CLP and join the Group. On login, the users can easily launch the recommended

training.

Use “My Groups” in CLP to gain access to user completions. Rather than each individual printing a completion certificate, the administrator of the “My Group” can run a report to monitor training compliance of group members.

Not recommended for customers with LMS. Users set up individual accounts in CLP. Administrator sets up a group and invites users, and users log in to CLP to accept the invitation.

Facilities where no LMS is available, some or all of the user audience cannot access the LMS, or when LMS cannot be linked to CLP.

Link to Customer Learning Portal from Customer LMS

Customer links from LMS or Intranet to course details page in CLP. All courses are available this way, and customer creates a quiz in their own LMS if desired.

Tutorials and System Manager courses are available in LMS. Course content is maintained by BD and is always current.

Customer creates a generic user account for the facility. Additional log in required to access tutorials (end users first log in to customer LMS or intranet and then log in to CLP using the generic account. No progress data shared with external sites

Initial training for nursing end users and ongoing retraining. Facilities where an LMS is available.

Tutorial in zip, SCORM-compliant format

BD provides all tutorials and associated quiz content in zipped, SCORM-compliant format that can be embedded into the customer LMS.

No link to CLP is necessary. No additional log in is necessary. Customer LMS provides evidence that individuals completed the course.

Site LMS administrator downloads updated versions from CLP when they become available and uploads into the LMS.

Initial training for nursing end users and ongoing certification. Facilities where an LMS is available.

Pyxis™ Enterprise Server Training Series

An assessment on content covered in the Pyxis™ Enterprise Server Training Series is available

in the CareFusion Learning Portal (CLP) under the following training item:

Users may complete the web-based assessment which contains 20 questions, or you may

download the entire question bank of 89 questions in Microsoft® Word format to create a

customized assessment for your facility.

The assessment is also available to download in both web-based and document format from the

Pyxis MedStation™ ES system Station Tutorial Series

Assessments on content covered in the 16 individual courses from the Pyxis MedStation™ ES

system Station Tutorial Series are available in the CLP under the following training items:

How to Use Pyxis ES platform Training in CLP

Whether you’re using your desktop, smartphone, or tablet,

our Pyxis ES platform training has you covered. The new

Pyxis ES platform Training Application was designed to offer

you a mobile and completely customizable training

experience.**

How to Use Pyxis ES platform Training in CLP

The Customer Learning Portal is the launching pad for all available customer training.

Before you can get started, you need to create an account.

1. Visit our web site at https://clp.carefusion.com/clp/logon.aspx

2. First time users need to click the New User Registration button and fill out the

form completely. Make sure to write down the user name and password you

create.

3. We will send you an activation email*, which contains an activation link. You must

click on the link in the email before you can log into the CLP using the username and

password you created during the registration process.

4. During your initial login, you will need to set up your secret question and time zone.

*NOTE: If you don’t receive the activation email within 15 minutes, check your bulk mail

folder. If it’s not there, send an email to [email protected] so we can

manually activate your account with the correct email address.

Two Ways to Find Training: The App1 or the Training Catalog

A. Pyxis™ ES platform Training Application**

The Pyxis ES platform Training Application is a

mobile-friendly interactive app designed to assist you in

accessing and customizing your training experience.

This applies to Pyxis ES Platform v1.4.x courses.

1. After logging in to CLP, click the link for the Pyxis® ES

platform Training Application on the home page.

2. Click on a QuickLaunch Training item.

3. Select a tutorial or series.

4. Select a category.

5. Click on a tutorial to open the Item Details page on CLP.

6. Click Begin Training to launch the course.

B. Access Tutorials from the Training Catalog

All tutorials and System Manager courses are available in the Training Catalog.

1. After logging in to CLP, click Training Catalog at the top of the Learning Portal screen.

2. Enter the course Item Number in the search field.

3. Click the Item Number link to open the Item Details page.

4. Click Begin Training to launch the course.



Access SCORM Download Files

The Pyxis™ ES platform system tutorials and Main Workflow courses are available to download

individually or in their entirety in SCORM format for customers who would like to manage the

content in their own training environments. This option is recommended for customers with a

Learning Management System (LMS) that allows you to assign, track, and manage training

courses for your users.

If you do not have a SCORM-compliant LMS, you may invite your users to create individual

accounts in the CareFusion Customer Learning Portal (CLP). You can use the My Groups

feature in CLP to invite users to track their progress in CLP.

There are two versions available for the Pyxis™ ES system courses: Release 1.3.4 and earlier,

and Release 1.4.x. The SCORM course files for each tutorial series can be downloaded from the

following training items in CLP:

Release 1.3.4 and earlier:

o CLP1107-DL: Pyxis™ MedStation ES Tutorials and Quizzes for Nursing and

Pharmacy - SCORM Download version – Full tutorials for both Nursing and

Pharmacy in the main course CLP1107. Optional quizzes for each: CLP1107-N

Nursing Quiz, and CLP1107-P Pharmacy Quiz. 80% to pass.

o CLP1107x-DL: ALTERNATIVE: Pyxis MedStation™ ES Station Tutorials Series

CLP1107A-CLP1107Q – SCORM Download Version. Provides separate modules for

selecting training to limit time spent for selected users.

Some LMS services require their customers to provide evidence of permission to use the

content obtained from a vendor. The letter on the next page can be used for that purpose.

Hello Pyxis® ES system Educator,

Thank you for asking about how to use Pyxis® ES system training on your own Learning Management System (LMS). As a courtesy, BD is able to make the Pyxis™ ES system tutorials available to customers who operate their own LMS. We are eager to support your efforts to manage your basic Pyxis training programs efficiently and centrally.

There are a few important considerations before you install a copy on your own system:

1. You have been granted a nonexclusive license to install one copy of any of the Pyxis™ ES platform Tutorials that are available for you to download from the Customer Learning Portal site. You may offer this training to an unlimited number of users within your own LMS. Please note that if you

have obtained an access code for a previous version of Pyxis and need to access the SCORM download files for a new version, you may need to request another access code.

2. The Tutorials are available for selected different versions of Pyxis™ ES system products in SCORM2 1.2 format, and the contents may not be edited or customized. Once you have installed the copy in your system, BD cannot assume responsibility for files you have downloaded when subsequent

updates are made to the course.

You will be responsible for acquiring and installing updates and downloading new Tutorials any time your facility upgrades to a new version of the Pyxis™ ES system.

3. Your LMS administrator will be responsible for installing the SCORM course and supporting the training item for your facility’s users in your LMS.

This license is for your site or network of sites serviced by your LMS only; please do not

share these instructions or downloaded files with anyone else. If you are aware of anyone else who would like to have access, please let us know at [email protected], and we will take care of granting them their own license

Instructions to Download SCORM File



How to download the SCORM Files from CLP

1. Register: If you have not done so already, register for a user account in the Customer

Learning Portal (https://clp.carefusion.com/clp/logon.aspx).

2. Request: Send an email to [email protected] and request access for

your organization to download the Pyxis™ ES v1.4 Tutorials in SCORM format.

a. Our CLP administrator will respond and grant you access to the downloadable

versions of these courses.

3. Log In: Click the following link to log back into the Customer Learning Portal:

https://clp.carefusion.com/clp/logon.aspx.

4. Search: Click Training Catalog in the top menu, and enter ES Tutorials in the Search

for box and click Search.

5. Select: Locate the course you would like to download for your own LMS, and click the

underlined course number to open the page.

Courses in the purple box shown above are used for Pyxis ES platform v1.3.4 and

earlier.

Courses in the blue box shown above are used for Pyxis ES platform v1.4.x and

above. You can search for these alone by entering CLP-ES%DL in the Search for

box.







6. Download: Click on the download icon for the files you want to download.

Here, for example, is the screen for the Pyxis Anesthesia ES system:

a. On the File Download dialog, click Save As. (Do NOT click Open, or you will

simply display the contents of the zip file).

b. In the Save As window, browse Save in at the top to locate the folder on your

computer or network where you will store the downloaded file, and click Save.




c. The files are very large, so it may take some time to complete, depending on the

speed of your internet connection.

d. When complete, you may close the window in your web browser.

e. Repeat the above steps to download any other courses and bundles you need to

install in your LMS.

7. Instructions: Be sure to download any document labeled “Instructions” for additional notes

about the files you are downloading.

8. Install: Your LMS Administrator may now use the zip file(s) located in your Save in folder

to install the Tutorial(s) according to your internal procedure for installing a SCORM course

in your facility’s LMS.

a. In systems that require you to manually unzip the file and direct the LMS to a launch

page, the course launch file name is indexAPI.html.

Special Note on Bundled Files

Several courses are provided in bundles to make it easier for you to download them.

When you first download the bundle, open the Zip file and use Extract ALL to

unzip the SCORM packages (individual zip files) and documents that were

bundled together.




Then you will be able to install the individual ZIP files in your LMS as usual. Examples of

Invite Users to Register and Join Your Group in CLP

My Groups helps you to track the training progress of other employees at your organization

who are taking their training inside CLP.

Training Coordinators and Group Administrators can identify one or more training items their

group should be taking, and then run simple reports to track their progress. You can create as

many groups as you like to track them in meaningful ways. For example, you can track nurses

separately from pharmacy techs, system managers separately from regular users, or any

combination that makes sense for you.

How My Groups Works

1. The Group Administrator creates a group in the My Groups area of the right side

menu.

2. Name the group and add a description.

3. Suggestions: Select one or more courses you want your group to complete.

4. Members: Type or copy and paste your member email addresses in the Invite new

members field, and click Invite Members.

a. The system will send an email to your list with instructions on how to register in

CLP and join your group.

b. Alternatively, copy your group link from the bottom of the Members page and

email it with your own invitation and instructions. You can include it on any web

page, Intranet page, or document.

5. Reporting: Periodically run reports to see how your enrolled group members are

progressing on the suggested training items, or on all the training they are doing in

CLP.
