Once there was a irresistibly beautiful girl named Psyche who everyone loved. Everyone loved her except for her two envious sisters and Aphrodite, the goddess of

beauty and love.

Aphrodite demanded for Cupid, her son, to shoot Psyche with one of his magic arrows. The magic arrow would make Psyche fall in love with something ridiculously odd.

Cupid followed his mother’s command and followed Psyche into the woods. When he saw her beauty he thought, ”I cannot destroy something with such beauty.” He got distracted and accidently shot himself in the foot.

Psyche’s father went to see an oracle in order to find out why his daughter was not married. The oracle told Psyche’s father that she must be left on a mountain alone for her

husband to claim. Her father sent Psyche away to a mountain.

Psyche really did not want to leave her family, but one day a strong wind carried her to a lonesome island. She tried to find somewhere to stay, and she came across a palace. She went there and was given anything she desired. She had everything except for someone to talk to.

That night Psyche heard a voice. ”Who are you?” she asked. ”It is your husband,” said the voice. “Oh my goodness! My dad was right.”

Psyche said she has never really seen him. She told her sisters that he only comes at night, and she’s not allowed to see him at all.

Her sisters told her to look at him in his sleep and to take a knife. The sisters said, “If he is a beast, you can kill it with the knife.” Psyche then agrees to do it.
