Technologyhasbeenadvancingatalightningspeedanditisincreasinglycommonnowadaystofinddifferenttreatmentoptions,includingsurgicaloptions,forthesamecondition.Itishightimethereforeforpracticingsurgeonstobeawareofthesevariousoptionsandbeabletoselecttheappropriateoptionfordifferentpatients.Withthethemeof“ControversiesinSurgery”,aseriesofsymposia,lecturesandfreepapersessionsareorganizedtoencompassmultipledebatabletopicsindifferentsurgicalsubspecialties.Byre-examiningcurrentpracticeswithclinicalfactsandresearchdata,webelieve“controversies”canbeapositiveforcetoinvigoratemedicaltechnologicaladvancementandimprovementoftreatmentoutcomes.
