Please see important dates and events of the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists below. (1) Day of Prayer and All Night Prayer Session - January 4-2014 We invite the entire church to make January 4 a special day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to God with special emphasis on the upcoming MM14 Campaign. On the night of January 4, 2014 we invite every Pastor, Leader, Officer and member of the Church to join us for a night of prayer at the Kencot SDA Church. This is where we will get an opportunity to prayer together as a Church for the first time in the new year. (2) Road March - January 12-2014 A massive Road March to mark the public launch of Metro Mission 14, MM14 will be held on Sunday January 12, 2013 and will culminate in the Half Way Tree square for a Gospel Concert and Rally. We invite the entire church to join us in this grand road march and rally. Free transportation will be provided from select churches. (See attached document for further details. ) The road march is designed to create public awareness of the official launch of the first Massive Conference sponsored MM14 Campaigned set to launch on January 19, 2014 at the National Heroes Park. Please see important dates and events of the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists below.

(1) Day of Prayer and All Night Prayer Session - January 4-2014 We invite the entire church to make January 4 a special day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to God with special

(3) Convention 2014 - January 19, 2014 The Annual Convention will take place at the Kencot SDA Church beginning at 9:00 am. Newly elected officers

and leaders of the church are invited to attend this special event, designed to prepare the church for the work ahead.

(4) Notices from the Sabbath School / Personal Ministries / Comm. Services Department

1. The next scheduled Bible Workers' meeting will be held on January 9, 2014 at 9 a.m in the EJC Chapel.

2. The EJC SOE and MM14 team in collaboration with members of Institutional Development Missions (A

voluntary missionary team from Advent Fellowship) will be conducting further training for church members

who desire to work in their community and among their peer groups for the purpose of obtaining funding for

community development projects. The First Meetings will be conducted at the Half Way Tree SDA Church

on the 6th & 7

th of January, starting precisely at 5:30 pm.

(5) Kingsway Prep. Rated among top Preparatory Schools in Jamaica

The Kingsway Preparatory School, a Seventh-day Adventist institution, has been listed among the top

performing Preparatory Schools island-wide.

The matter was highlighted recently in the Careers & Education section of the Sunday Observer. The story,

titled “Only 64 prep schools performing 'above average'” stated that only about 26 per cent of preparatory

schools operating in Jamaica are deemed to be performing "above average". (Click here for more information)

6) Notices From the Youth Ministries Department

Photographs with the names of the recipients of the recent Youth Awards recipients have been posted on

the website. Feel free to visit the photo gallery to see what you missed at the Youth Awards Banquet which

was held last month.

1. Team members, Happy New Year to you all. May you find yourself doing so much for the

Lord that He will say ‘Well done ! Mary!’ God’s mercy is new every morning. Happy new

you also.

2. Team members every week you are sent a note from my desk through the PRO Kareen

Simpson. For 2014, we would like you to keep abreast of current happenings. Let’s do the

same thing a different way. Kindly indicate that you are actually receiving the mail. You could

reply with one word –‘Received’

3. Children’s Ministries team members of Zone 4 are asked to be seated by 10:30 a.m. for your

Commitment Service which will take place on January 11, 2014 at the Morant Bay SDA

Church. Dress code/ preferred colors- Children’s Ministries shades of pink and or navy

blue; Women’s Ministries shades of lavender and or purple. Kindly take a fruit to enhance our

luncheon meeting. All team members who are serious about raising the bar for 2014 are

expected to be in attendance. God’s mercy is new every morning. Those who know, need to

be mentors and strengthen others.

4. Children’s Ministries team members of ZONES 1-3 your commitment service and luncheon

meeting will take place on January 18, 2014 at the Kencot SDA Church. Kindly be seated

by 10:30 a.m. The children’s ministries -shades of pink and or navy blue and the women’s

ministries-shades of lavender and or purple are the preferred colors to be worn on that day.

Kindly take a fruit to augment our fruit luncheon meeting.

5. ASI/IAD Mission Preachers get ready to preach the word in the Metro Mission 2014

Children’s Crusade. Invite your friends and watch them give their hearts to God.

6. Coming soon Child Preachers’ Graduation. Kindly ensure all assignments are completed.

7. Get ready. ASI/ IAD 2014 July Mission Crusade will be held in Belize. Contact the

Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Murlena McKenzie for further information. Book your ticket

early and save.

(9) Notices from the Women's Ministries Department

An appreciation exercise was held for Women’s and Children’s Ministries team members on December 21,

2013, in the EJC Boardroom. The guest speaker was Mr. Howard Harvey from HEART Trust /NTA. Forty

recipients were presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation for outstanding, dedicated and sacrificial

service.

Other presentations were also made for exceptional administrative support towards the advancement and

strengthening of the two ministries. These recipients were Winsome Clemetson, New Haven; Paula Holmes,

Kencot; Winsome Martin, Constant Spring; Donna Nevison Brown, New Haven; Kareel Meikle,

Meadowvale; Kareen Simpson – Hagley Park and Karen Watson, of Shortwood SDA. Donna Nevison Brown

gave the awardees’ response, Winsome Clemetson the vote of thanks and Venice Johnson the prayer of

gratitude. Below are the names of the awardees that we have saluted at this time:-

East Jamaica Conference could not have done it without your quality input. Thank you for nurturing our

sisters, men and boys in the church and community and for empowering each other to become stronger

disciples of God. The areas for commendation were leadership, child preachers’ training, literacy, mentorship,

ASI/IAD Mission Involvement, Crusade/ evangelism, Bible study, baptism, prayer and personal growth. You

have ministered well, God is pleased and we are blessed.
