PSSA Rugby League at Dubbo

Yesterday morning 15 students braved the cold and early morning to board the bus to Dubbo to play in the PSSA Classic Shield. The first round was against Nyngan PS. Cobar made a great start scoring an early try to Nick Hodges from a Nyngan error. Nyngan couldn’t break Cobar’s strong defence with some strong tackling, excellent line speed and team work. Cobar’s defensive pressure paid off with a try just before half time to Lochlan Abel making the score 8-0. The 2nd half again saw some strong defence close to our line until Dan Buckman made a break nearly running the whole field. Cobar capitalised on the break to score through Lochlan Abel making it 14-0. Another try from Nick Hodges made it 18-0 which ended up being the final score. Try scorers: Nick Hodges 2 Lochlan Abel 2 Conversion: Zaiden Saunders The 2nd round put us against a well organised Gilgandra side. Gilgandra capitalised early on a Cobar error to make the score 4-0. Cobar weren’t able to contain some strong running from the Gilgandra side although Cobar were able to score a late consolation try to Nick Hodges. The score finished off 32-4. Try Scorers: Nick Hodges

Throughout the day the boys showed excellent sportsmanship which was on display when they cheered on Gilgandra in their next

game.

I would like to thank Mrs Jermyn for driving the bus and the Cryer family for their support with coaching and league safe at Dubbo

and on the Peachey Richardson Shield. I would also like to thank all the parents and grandparents who have supported their stu-

dents with Rugby League this year. It has been another successful year of Rugby League.

Koby Robertson, Nick Hodges, Zaiden Saunders, Rohan Bartlett, Sam Dunne, Tim McCormack, Parker Cryer, Harley Lambert,
