Hello SIA parents,
We are coming to a close of our first semester, what an exciting time
for our students. Transitioning to Blended and personalized learning,
an hour of code and so many learning opportunities that your students
were able to participate in.
We are looking forward to an exciting last week.
Friday December 11, students are allowed to wear holiday shirts for
$1. This collection is going to be used to provide a wonderful holiday
season for one SIA family that is in need. Thank you in advance for
your continued support.
On Wednesday and Thursday, we will be having our CORE
Carnival. We are looking for some parent volunteers so if you have
availability please contact your student's teacher. The more help we
have the better we can make the carnival for our students.
We at SIA are looking forward to a wonderful last week before break.

Christmas Activities in Indy….
Jolly Days
For feel-good family time, head to Jolly Days Winter Wonderland at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. A marvelous place any time of year, the museum is a special treat during holidays. Take a ride down the two-story Yule Slide and discover the Ice Castle, "ice" fishing holes and sock skating -- all without frozen fingers. Jolly Days are Nov. 22 through Jan. 4 with Santa's Big Arrival on Nov. 28 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Jolly St. Nick arrives in grand style via a two-seater Dallara Factory Indy Car driven by 2014 Indianapolis 500 pole sitter and Hoosier native Ed Carpenter. Santa will be at the museum daily from Nov. 28 through Christmas Eve to gather children's wish lists. Ring in the New Year at an earlier time for youngsters. Really it's Countdown to Noon on New Year's Eve when North America's largest water clock counts down drop by drop. ((800) 820-6214)
Christmas at the Zoo
For almost half a century, the Indianapolis Zoo has been hosting its special Christmas at the Zoo. In fact, the Indianapolis Zoo was the nation's first zoo to host a holiday lights event. Since it started in 1967, Christmas at the Zoo has become known for its beautiful holiday lights and displays. Held from Nov. 28 to Jan. 4 from noon to 5 p.m., the event includes Santa's Workshop, cookie decoration, carolers, a find-the-mistletoe challenge, carousel rides, 4-D theater and much more. Of course, there are also the zoo animals. Enjoying the cooler weather are seals, seal lions, polar bears, walrus, tigers, brown bears, red pandas and other hardy critters. Need
a warm up? Stop at one of the two campfires. Zoo fare is served at Caf on the Commons, plus guests get free refills on hot beverages all night long at any food service location. ((317) 630-2001)
Jingle Rails
Christmas and toy trains seem to go together. For a fun holiday treat on a grand scale, visit "Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure" at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art. This locomotive wonderland travels over more than 1,200 feet of track with a network of trestles, bridges and tunnels, past detailed replicas of national treasures all made of natural materials like twigs, moss and nuts wrapped up in holiday trimming. See how many of the downtown Indianapolis treasures you can identify on the train journey. There's the Eiteljorg, Monument Circle, Union Station, Indiana State Fairgrounds and Lucas Oil Stadium. The train then heads through the national parks of the American West, passing legendary sites, including grand railway lodges, Northwest Coast Native villages, and wonders both natural and human-made - Mt. Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Yosemite Falls, Old Faithful and more. Exhibit runs Nov. 22 through Jan. 18. ((317) 636-9378)

NOTES! NOTES! NOTES!
Communication is important, especially if it concerns the safety of your child. Please send a note to your child’s teacher whenever his/her end of the day transportation is different from the normal routine. If the child does not have a note, the teacher will follow the child's normal routine for dismissal. The same policy applies to after-school activities. A note giving permission from the parent/guardian must be on file in order to stay for an activity. Phone calls giving permission for these activities will not be allowed. E-mails may be directed to our school’s spam filter and may not get to the teacher, so please do not send e-mails for these changes.
End of Day Transportation Changes Please make sure to notify the office in the event your child needs to have a change in their transportation home. To ensure that your child receives the information please call in by 2:00 p.m. We can’t make any changes after 2:00 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation.
IMPORTANT REMINDER Information for Car Rider Pick up at SIA
Turn into the first drive as you come towards SIA (the parking lot will be closed off so you will not be able to park except in the back lot.) We have cones to direct your car. Because of safety concerns you will need to wait in the car line to be released and can only turn at this area. Drop off time in the morning is 7:15. School is closed until 7:15, we do not have staff to monitor students prior to 7:15 and they will not be able to get into the building prior to this time. A staff member will come out at 7:15 to let you release your student from the dark to allow them to go into the breezeway. The tardy bell rings at 7:25. If your student arrives after this time you will need to bring them to door #1 so that they can get a late slip to be admitted to the classroom.
Electronics Cell phones and other electronics are not permitted at school. The MSD of Warren Township Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook address electronic devices with Code of Misconduct 10-32. A student may not use or possess unauthorized electronic devices on school property during the school hours. The district, school, and staff are not responsible for electronic items brought to school by students. With only 180 school days built in to the school calendar, every instructional
minute needs to be free of disruption that can be caused by these devices. These items may be confiscated and will require a parent or guardian to pick-up.
