2015-2016 Building Belgrade Leadership Class
We are now taking applications for the 2015-2016 Building Belgrade class. This leadership class is designed to educate the attendees on all of Belgrade’s attributes. Nine sessions are held from September through May on various topics (see page 5), ending with a team-building class project that benefits the community.
The class starts on September 3 with a Retreat at Gallatin River Lodge for a day of team building with OWLS (Organizational Wide Leadership Solutions). The retreat runs from 9 am-5 pm. The first class is September 10 from 10 am-5 pm; classes continue each month on the second Thursday through May. Each class session begins at the Belgrade Chamber unless otherwise noted.
Who should be a part of Building Belgrade? Anyone who works in Belgrade, lives in Belgrade, who does business in Belgrade, or wants to know more about Belgrade will benefit from the class. Even some long-time residents have really enjoyed the class and learned new information.
The cost is $325 for Chamber members, which covers all the expenses for the year (lunches, snacks, and beverages are always included). Nonmembers can attend for $425, but Chamber members are given preference as a member benefit.
To download the application or apply online, go to the Chamber website (www. belgradechamber.org); at the bottom right corner of the home page, click on Building Belgrade or call the office for more information. Don’t miss out! The registration deadline is August 3.

Board of Directors
Agriculture: The committee held another very SUCCESSFUL Farm Fair in May. Fewer fourth-graders attended this year because of some last-minute cancellations, but the weather held and it was excellent. Thank you to Carrie Taylor, Chair, and committee members Betty Dieter, Barb Marx, Ed Brainard, Patti Davis, Al Lien, Patti Soares, Heather Rimel, John Randall, Kevin Mattson, Vic Lutes, and Sandra Germann. A big thank you to the Belgrade FFA and Dr. Dave, their advisor, for their assistance. Thanks, as always, to Ed and Punky Brainard for letting everyone take over their ranch for a week!
Business Promotions: Customer Appreciation Day went very well. Look for the list of prize winners elsewhere in this newsletter. The committee will meet one last time on June 10 at 7:30 am at the Broadway Café. Further events by this committee are questionable. This committee only has three active people and will most likely vote to disband at the June meeting.
Economic Development: The cost and availability of housing had been a big topic of discussion. The Belgrade Chamber is working with the City of Belgrade to put together a Belgrade Development Team that will help write a Development Plan for Belgrade. The committee held a very successful Business Tour at JE Soares, Inc.
Membership Services: The committee is working on the Golf Scramble slated for July 17 and invites anyone interested in helping to call the Cham-ber office. The registration form is on page 8. “Business Before Hours” events are doing well. St. Catherine Family Health Care Clinic on Main Street will host the June 5 event (see page 5). Starting in June, the “Before Hours” events will be held on the first Friday of the month instead of the first Thursday so that we do not conflict with the Bozeman Chamber event. All the slots for “Business After Hours” events are filled for the rest of the year, but the committee is taking hosts for 2016. The Annual Chamber Corn Feed will be Thursday, August 27 at 5:30 pm on the Chamber lawn.
President’s Circle: The Presidents continue to work on the Belgrade Community Foundation. There will be a ribbon cutting at the East Belgrade Interchange on June 26 at 2 pm, and one at Earth Elements in Gallatin Gateway on August 19 at 4 pm. Contact the Chamber at 388-1616 if you are interested in a ribbon cutting for your business.
Tournament: After a very busy tournament season, the committee will wrap up its year and begin planning in September for the All Class State Volleyball Tournament, which will be held on November 12-14.
Transportation: The Chamber continues to work with the City of Bel-grade on the possible upgrade of Main Street. The East Belgrade Inter-change will be open by the end of June barring any weather delays. The “Welcome Sign” at the Belgrade entrance from the airport is in process, and a mockup will be available for display soon.
*Meeting times and locations are shown on the Calendar (p. 12).

Dear Members:
We just finished our second class of Building Belgrade! This leadership class is designed to educate attendees about all that Belgrade has to offer. There are so many new people in town as well as those born and raised here who don’t know all there is to know about our great community.
Word of mouth is the best advertising and we want to educate people to go out into the community and let their friends and colleagues know all of Belgrade’s great attributes. We have had a variety of people in the last two classes. People who work and live in Belgrade, people who work here and live in Bozeman or elsewhere, people who work in Bozeman but do business here, and some locals who grew up here. Each class has ex-pressed how much they learned about all the aspects of the community.
This is a great way to build our community leaders as well as educate ambassadors for our community. Applications are available on our web-site or you can call the Chamber office and we can e-mail one to you. I know the articles in this newsletter have lots of information, but I can’t stress enough about what a great program this is. It is well worth the money, and it is reasonably priced. Non-Chamber members are invited to take the class, but members get a discount and will be considered first for the next class.
I hope you will consider being a part of Building Belgrade.
Remember that all the kids will be out of school for the summer so watch carefully for them.
