Processing a refundYou can easily process refunds in the MYOB PayDirect app.
The customer must present you with the same credit card that was used to process the
original transaction and, ideally, their transaction ID (which was emailed/texted to them).
1 Locate the original transaction. You do this in Transaction History, which is accessed
through the menu in the MYOB PayDirect app (swipe right from anywhere within the app).
2 Scroll through the records until you find the original transaction use the application
preferred name from the Chip and (delete) the last four digits from the Credit card
that is displayed to help you locate it). Or, search using the STAN (Systems Trace Audit
Number) that is used to search from the customer’s receipt.
3 Once located, tap on the transaction to view the Transaction Details screen.
Tap Refund. Follow the on-screen prompts to process the refund.
Important info! You’re unable to refund more than the original transaction amount.
There’s no time limit on processing refunds. If you accidentally processed a transaction
for the wrong amount, we suggest you refund the entire amount and then process the
transaction again, rather than refunding part payments.

Troubleshooting
The MYOB PayDirect Reader doesn’t fit onto my smartphone
> If you have a cover on your smartphone, make sure the MYOB PayDirect Reader is
pushed in deep enough. Otherwise try to remove the cover and try again. You may
have to insert the MYOB PayDirect Reader into the bottom of your smartphone or
back-to-front, depending on the location of the audio socket. If you need to use the
MYOB PayDirect card reader with a smartphone case you can also purchase an audio
jack extension to allow the card reader to connect with the case on. The extension
needs to be a 3.5mm 4 conductor plug. These can be found at many consumer
electronics stores or online.
The MYOB PayDirect Reader doesn’t work with my smartphone
> The MYOB PayDirect Reader and PayDirect app are designed to work with a number
of Apple iOS and Android-powered devices, including some tablets. A list of these is
available on the MYOB Website located at myob.com.au/paydirectsupport
14 MYOB PayDirect User Guide
The MYOB PayDirect Reader doesn’t read the chip on my customer’s card
> If your customer’s credit card has a chip, check you’re inserting the card the correct way
(i.e. front of card faces the front of the MYOB PayDirect Reader) and you’re inserting the
card, chip-first, into the MYOB PayDirect Reader.
The MYOB PayDirect Reader doesn’t read the magnetic strip on my customer’s card
> If your customer’s card has a chip, you must insert the card into the card slot. If it only
has a magnetic stripe, check you’re swiping the card the correct way (i.e. front of card
faces the front of the MYOB card reader).
Everything works but it won’t process the transaction
> Check the network coverage on your smartphone. If you’re in a no or varying-signal
area, you may not be able to process transactions (since these are actioned in real-time
using your smartphone/tablet’s network coverage). If you’re in a no signal area, you may
have to move to get network coverage, if possible.
> If my PayDirect Card Reader has a fault, what do I do? In the event that your Card
Reader is faulty please contact MYOB Support on 1300 555 931 and they will advise how
you can receive a replacement reader.
> Do I need to turn on anything within my smartphone to ensure that the paydirect service works? For the PayDirect service to work, the microphone & location service
need to be enabled for the app. iOS needs both enabled. Android needs the location
service to be enabled.
