Holiday Food Drive exceeds expectations
As a result of the kindness and caring demonstrated by the Cameron School Community, 935 pounds of food was collected to support the North York Harvest Food Bank. That is a whopping 425 kilograms. That exceeds the 295 kilograms collected last year by 130 kilograms! What an amazing effort by you; our parents, students and teachers in demonstrating how global citizenship starts with our own community. Thank you for your generosity.
Time for Carnival!
Winter fun in the spirit of Carnival
It’s back! Cameron students will celebrate the joys of winter fun on Tuesday, February 11th in the afternoon. Classes will rotate through a variety of winter activities. This event is for grades 1-5. Please be sure to dress for the weather.

Student Entry in
the Morning
Students are to line up at either door 4 (list
grades) or door 5 (list grades) for entry into the
school in the morning.
Supervision in the yard for grades 1-5 begins at
8:30 am. Students may be dropped off on the
asphalt area outside of doors 4 and 5 any time
after 8:30 am and before 8:45 am.
After 8:45 am, students are late and must enter
the school through the main doors and sign in at
the office. STUDENTS ARE NOT TO BE
DROPPED OFF AT THE FRONT DOORS FOR
ENTRY BEFORE 8:45. Students should arrive at
school by 8:40 am to ensure that they can line up
with their classmates and enter the school with
the group.
Being at school on time is a life-long skill to
prepare students for understanding the
importance of timeliness.

Dressing for the weather
Severe Weather Guidelines
For indoor recess Winter weather conditions sometime warrant indoor recess, lunch and pre-entry periods for the safety of students and staff. Refer to the following guidelines:
When temperature and/or wind chill factor indicates -28°C or lower, students will remain indoors due to risk of frostnip and frostbite.
When temperature and/or wind chill factor indicates –20 to –28°C, recesses may be shortened to 10 minutes and lunch recess to 20 minutes depending on local conditions. Students should be monitored for signs of frostnip, frostbite or difficulty breathing.
If your child has been ill, and is returning to school, they need to be prepared to go outside for recess. Students cannot stay in the office during lunch or recess as there is no supervision.
Cancellation of Busses
During Severe Weather
Severe weather conditions may require the TDSB to cancel transportation or, in extreme conditions, close schools. The decision to close schools is made by the director of education. In the event transportation is cancelled or schools are closed, the local media will be informed before the beginning of the school day. Tune in to your radio and television news stations for the latest information or visit www.tdsb.on.ca. If weather conditions become extreme after students are in school, a decision to close schools will be made by 11:00am and broadcast by noon. In this case, elementary students will remain in the school until they are picked up by a parent or parent designate. If there is no announcement about school closing by noon, schools will remain open for the day.
