Foundation collects funds through mass
mailing campaigns, magazine and newspaper
advertisements, emails and TV ads, mostly in
North America. Majority of the donors
belong to the technological field/industry;
in many cases their employers (for
example, Oracle, Microsoft, Cisco, Pepsi-
Cola) match their donations. While most
funds collected on Hidaya platform are of
Zakat in nature, other types of donations
such as Sadaqa, and in-kind donation are
also received.

populations is one of Hidaya’s priorities. This project is

Orphans in South Asia and Africa suffer the most hardship
because of the lack of governmental programs to address
their educational needs and economic welfare.
The main objectives of this project are to:
¶ Meet the basic survival needs of orphan children
¶ Provide financial support for basic and continuing

¶ Monitor their progress in their educational goals
¶ Remove obstacles that hinder their progressDepending on the region, the cost of this program can reach as high as PKR4250 per month

Hidaya Foundation is working on two fronts in their active
drive towards promoting alternate energy sources:
¶ Implement and showcase ways to reduce energy
consumption by using a variety of alternative energy
options in its own facilities in USA, as well as in offices
around the world. These options would include, but not
limited to, solar and wind power.
¶ To help create awareness about the technology, practical
devices, methods and benefits of conservation in the
usage of current energy sources.

using a wind mill, installed in 2007.

The goals of this project are to:
¶ Plant and successfully grow one million tees in ten years
(2008 to 2017) worldwide.
¶ Help the new generation understand the importance and
impact of trees in their lives and in the ecosystem. This
will in turn give a better life to our future generations.

they may more productively utilize low quality farm lands
impacted by issues such as salinity and lack of water.

Water-borne diseases are rampant in economically
depressed rural areas
SOLUTION: Installation of Water hand pumps or
Deep(Drilled) well depending upon the depth of water table
¶ Hand pumps are normally installed for obtaining water at
the maximum depth of 130 feet (~ 40 meters).
¶ Over 130 feet deep wells (drilled wells) are
installed with pumps which can reach 3,000
feet (910 m) or more.
¶ Hidaya is working to provide a deep well in
the Shahdad Kot district in Pakistan
