The Year 1 initial focus this term has been on “Being Australian”. To celebrate everything Australian we had an Aussie Day. Students wrote recounts about our interesting, exciting and fun day filled. For one student it was the best day of her life!In Year 1 we had Aussie Day on Tuesday March 1st... We played thong games. We had to

Year 11 Drama visit the Reception ClassEach year, Year 11 Drama begins with a focus on voice. We undertake workshops that explore a range of vocal techniques with particular emphasis on variety. In order to perfect these skills, the girls must perform to a very captive audience; the Reception class. We spent a lesson with the class and each senior student got to spend some one on one time sharing their favourite picture books together. It was obvious that the girls; both young and old thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We thank the reception class and their teacher, Jane Delloso for allowing us to come for a visit.

Class Parent RepsThank you to the parents who have volunteered to be a parent rep in their daughter’s class. We would still love to have more Parent Reps. Please see your daughter’s teacher and they will be happy to recruit you.

Running Club is open to Year 4/5 and 6 students. All students attending must have the permission form signed by their parents as students will, when weather permits, run outside the school on our pre planned course. Running club was a strong force on Friday. We enjoyed good weather and it was great to have some extra parents enjoying the run with us.

Primary Field DayWe started our program early on Friday morning as the weather was meant to be hotting up through the day. We were very pleased with how efficiently the girls moved from one event to another. A great time was had by all and special thanks to Mrs Richter who made sure everything went smoothly and all girls had the opportunity to compete in events of their own choice. Results will be available later in the week.

Children’s UniversityAs you will be aware the applications for expression of interest for the Children’s University closed on Friday the 4th of March. If your daughter had put in the application, she will receive this week a list of different clubs and activities that will be offered by the school throughout the year. She should also look on the website to see what else is available. We look forward to seeing many students actively involved in exploring learning in a variety of avenues.

Thank you to the Year 4 Class who did a great job of hosting this week’s Assembly.

Reminder dates for the diary11th March - 9-9:40 workshop with Deb Osborne on Counting and Addition for Reception and Year 1 parents in the Music room. A letter has already been sent home.

Year 10 SurfingAs part of the Year 10 PE program, all students get to experience a day down at either Moana or Middleton Beach, learning to surf. This program gives the girls a chance to try something different as well as learn valuable beach safety skills. Almost all girls managed to stand up and wished for a second day at the beach to consolidate their skills. Everyone enjoyed the day and most slept on the bus ride home!On Wednesday the 2nd of March, Ms Hodby’s Year 10 PE class embarked on an excursion to the warm, sunny Middleton Beach to go surfing. The drained and tired feeling we all felt after the bus ride disappeared when we saw the beautiful, bright blue sea and we were suddenly pumped and ready to catch some waves. After being introduced to the friendly instructors and spending what felt like hours struggling into the wetsuits, we grabbed our boards and marched our way down towards the shore. For some, who got the drift of surfing, were able to successfully surf along the waves, followed by the cheers of everyone else. But for the rest, who struggled with the process settled with clinging onto the board for dear life until we eventually drifted towards shore. Many bellyflops, haywire surfboards and litres of drunken saltwater later, we were all having an amazing time and were disappointed when it was time to part ways with the wave. Waving goodbye to the instructors, we boarded the bus, in time to get back to school and tell everyone of our fantastic experience, which would not have been possible without the great organisation of Ms Hodby and Mr Grant! - Ella Le and Phuong Nguyen
