In this edition we look at the installation of five new 66kV underground XLPE (Cross Linked Polyethylene) circuits between Bouverie Queensberry (BQ), Victoria Market (VM), Waratah Place (WP) Zone Substations (ZSS) and Brunswick Terminal Station (BTS): • BQ ZSS - VM ZSS • BQ ZSS - WP ZSS • BTS - BQ ZSS • BTS - WP ZSS • BTS - VM ZSS WHERE ARE WE NOW? All cables have been hauled from the Glenlyon Road and Miller Street joint bays to Brunswick Terminal Station (BTS). Jointing works are well advanced with works at the Miller Street joint bay complete and works at the Glenlyon Road joint bay fast progressing. WHERE TO NEXT? We will finalise the jointing works at Glenlyon Road before removing the jointing huts from site and undertaking final reinstatement of the road surface. PROJECT MILESTONES • BQ ZSS - VM ZSS 66kV cable commissioned 11/9/13. • BTS - BQ ZSS and BTS – WP ZSS civil works complete 17/09/15. • BQ ZSS - WP ZSS cable haul completed 29/06/14. • BTS - BQ ZSS, BTS - WP ZSS and BTS - VM ZSS final cable haul commenced 4/07/2016. WHY ARE THE WORKS TAKING PLACE? These cables are a part of a major project to ensure the security of power supply to the CBD and inner suburbs. We thank customers and the community for your understanding while these important works are carried out.
