BIGGAR FARMERS’ CLUB SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS

The show will be held on a fine level field at the East End of Biggar (The property

of the Club).

The object of the Club is the Promotion of the Interest of Industry in general, of

Agriculture in particular, and of the Public Health.

The Club shall not be liable for loss or damage from accident or otherwise.

All stock must be in the possession and bona fide the property of the Exhibitor

from the 1st June preceding the Show. This Rule will be strictly adhered to.

All stock must compete only in its own Class, and no doctoring of cattle will be

allowed.

First Prize animals in open Classes only will parade for Championships. The

animal second in its class to the Champion shall be paraded for reserve.

Club Prizes will be awarded as follows: - one or two entries-one prize; three

entries-two prizes; four or more entries-three prizes, except where otherwise

specified.

Exhibitors wishing extra information of breeding entered in catalogue will be

charged double entry money.

All stock to be in the Ground by 9.00 a.m., and to remain until 3.00 p.m. If

stock be removed from the show field before 3.00 p.m., prize money will be

withheld. Judging to commence at 9.00 a.m., unless otherwise stated. The

hours will be strictly adhered to.

One attendant will be admitted with each animal in the Cattle, Horse and Pony

Sections, and with every three animals in the Sheep Sections, who must bring the

stock to the ring as numbered and continue in charge to the conclusion of the

show.

A list of Stock and Articles intended to be exhibited must be lodged, on the

schedules provided for the purpose, with the Entries Secretary, by Saturday 3rd

July. Acceptance of entries thereafter will be at the discretion of the Committee.

Late entries will not be guaranteed to be included in the Show Catalogue.

Membership of the Club - £10.00 per annum.

Entry Money – Cattle £2.00 each lot for Club Members: £4.00 for each lot for

Non - Members (unless otherwise specified).

Sheep £1.50 each for Club Members: £3.00 Non-Members

Horses £5.00 each all entries

The Committee reserves the right to return entry money and cancel any

Cattle Section where, due to the prevailing circumstances, an insufficient

entry is received for competition.

All disputes shall be referred to the Committee, by whom they shall be finally

settled, without appeal, and all objections to the decisions of the Judges, or

otherwise, must be lodged with the Entries Secretary, in writing, within 24 hours

from the date of the Show, accompanied by a deposit of £30 which is liable to

forfeit if the objection is not upheld.

As the committee has arranged that all prizes will be paid on the Show Day, it is

imperative that all subscription due by Members and others, be paid not later than

14 July.

The Fenwick Trophy

An engraved medal will also be presented by the Clydesdale Horse Society to the

best young handler aged 12 to 16 on the day of the show who has not already qualified

in 2014 The capabilities of the handler are to be assessed, not the animal being led. The

qualifier will be eligible to compete in the final at the Royal Highland Show 2016

Young Handlers Rules

Young Handlers must be aged 12 to 16 on the day of the show. Handlers may compete

in any number of young handlers classes in any year but they may only qualify once in

any given year. If the handlers placed in a class have already qualified in 2015 then the

qualifying place must go down the line to the first available non qualifier. Only animals

that have already competed in the normal show or driving classes may be used. Entire

colts are not allowed. Judging of this class is not to be on the merits of the animals – it

is to be on the quality of the stockmanship and handling in the showring by the young

handler. Rosettes will be provided to all entrants by the Clydesdale Horse Society.

(Note that youngsters may still compete in the final at the Royal Highland although

they may have turned 17 by that point. The qualifying cut off date is the actual day of

the affiliated show).

PONIES (SECTION II)

This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (“BSPS”) and all persons

entering, competing, showing or otherwise in Classes 61-68 whether members or not of

the BSPS are subject to the Rules of the BSPS, including the disciplinary procedures,

and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.

This Show is a qualifier for the 2015 BSPS Championships Show to be held at the East

of England Showground. The 1st and 2nd prize-winners only in the following classes, (61

–68 and 82– 84), and the highest placed 133cms., in the 138cms., Show Pony Class, and

the highest placed 143cms., in the 148cms. Show Pony class, provided the animal is

registered in accordance with Rules 23 and 28 and ridden by a BSPS member.

This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Challenge, the highest placed pony in the Lead

Rein, Open Show Pony, Open Show Hunter Pony, and Open Working Hunter Pony that

has not qualified for the BSPS 2015 BLUE RIBAND PONY of the YEAR or the 2015

Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class, will qualify. If the highest placed pony

has already qualified for the BSPS Challenge, the qualification will be awarded to the

next eligible pony.

This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Premier League, the 1st. 2nd. and 3rd. Placed ponies

in the Lead Rein, Show Pony , Show Hunter Pony, and Working Hunter Pony .

This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Champion of Champions, the Champion Open

Show Pony, Champion Open WHP, and the Champion Open SHP will qualify.

BSPS Best Rider

This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Best Rider of the Year. The Best Rider in the

Open Lead Rein, 128cms. 138cms. and 148cms. Show Pony, the 122cms. 133cms.

143cms. and 153cms. SHP., the 133cms. 143cms. and 153cms. WHP. Classes, will

receive a Card and qualify for the final at the BSPS Summer Championships Show.

Correctly secured British Standards skull caps, riding hats nos. PAS 015, EN1384

(USA) ASTMF1163 that meet current Safety Standards must be worn by riders at all

times when mounted.

Class 61. The B.S.P.S. Pony of Show Hunter type, mare or gelding, 4 years old and

over, exceeding 143 cm (14.0h.h.) and not exceeding 153cm (15.0h.h.). Riders not to

have attained their 20th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

This Show is a qualifier for the 2015 BSPS Championships Show to be held at the East

of England Showground. The 1st and 2nd prize-winners only in the following classes, (

81– 84), provided the animal is registered in accordance with Rules 23 and 28 and

ridden by a BSPS member.

This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Challenge, the highest placed pony in the Lead

Rein, Open Show Pony, Open Show Hunter Pony, and Open Working Hunter Pony that

has not qualified for the BSPS 2015 BLUE RIBAND PONY of the YEAR or the 2015

Murray to the competitor gaining most points in the Cattle, Horse, and Sheep sections.

Three points for a first, two points for a second, and one point for a third. In the event of

a tie, the most firsts to count. Specials and Championships not to count.

DOGS (Companion Show)

All Entries taken on field. Judging at 12.00 noon

Dogs must have chains attached, and be placed to their numbers before 12 o’ clock,

otherwise they will not be allowed to compete.

The classes in the Childrens’ Section are Young Handlers Classes. Judging is not on

the merits of the animals but on the quality of the stockmanship and handling in the

showring by the young handlers.

All the above classes are confined to members of the Young Farmers’ Clubs (all stock

must be entered from the farm on which the member resides, or is employed, to be

shown by the member who must be under 30 years of age). No animals entered in these

are eligible to compete in the other classes including all interbreed champions.

The “Howford” Cup

Presented by Mr James Barrie, Howford, to be competed for annually in the following

Young Farmers’ section -, Dairy Cattle 2015 Blackface Sheep 2016, Texel Sheep 2017

Prime Sheep 2018. Beef Cattle 2019 In the event that no entries are brought forward in

the nominated class, the award will rotate in the sequence above until won.
