MITZVAH WEEK: BT sixth graders participated in the annual Mitzvah Week program, where they learned about the mitzvot required of Jewish adults and created their own ritual objects.

Students Celebrate Creation through Science

Having just learned about the creation of the world in the book of B’reishit (Genesis), our second grade students know that Torah and science go hand in hand. Students participated in a special, interactive siyum (celebration), where they circulated through six “Creation Stations” to examine each day’s creation through a scientific lens. Activities were developed and facilitated by their teachers, Morah Elisheva Erlanger, Morah Charna Stein and Morah Eeta Travis. They included light refraction and colors, the water cycle, planting grass, a model of the solar system, the properties of birds’ feathers, and exploring the five senses of humans.

PRESIDENTS DAY ASSEMBLY: Lower School students paid tribute to Presidents Geroge Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

“AIDA” hits high note with student critics

Our talented High School students gave three outstanding performances of “AIDA”, the Broadway musical created by Elton John and Tim Rice, which tells the story of star-crossed lovers bound by family and cultural expectations in Egypt during the time of the great pharaohs

Student members of the Baltimore CAPPIES - short for Critic Awards Program - attended the second performance and posted glowing reviews, calling it a “stunning production” that was “beautifully executed” and with musical talents that “went beyond expectations.” One critic wrote, “the tonal blend of this cast matches that of professionals.”

Kudos to the cast, tech crew, and the BT Creative Arts Department led by Mr. Jason Doughterty, Creative Arts Chair, and Mrs. Diane Smith, Theatre Director.

Boys Basketball: The Boys Varsity Basketball team had a rebuilding year after back to back championship game appearances, finishing 4-8 in the league. Yair P. ’16 and Jeremy F. ’16 were the team’s leading scorers and will be sorely missed next year. The Boys JV Basketball team had an outstanding season with an 7-3 conference record leading to a championship game appearance. The Warriors relied on their stingy defense and allowed the fewest points per game in their league but was defeated by Park School 52-39. The Boys Fresh/Soph Basketball team had a very successful season, going 3-6 against an independent schedule and featuring one of the best offenses BT has ever fielded at the Fresh/Soph level.

Girls Basketball: The Girls Varsity Basketball season began on a high note with an undefeated run to the Weiner Tournament Championship! After that, the league season proved more challenging, as BT finished with a 6-10 record. The Warriors traveled to Friends School for a first round playoff game and

were victorious, 50-33! In the second round BT fell to top seed Glenelg. Seniors Hannah C., Hallie H., Sydney H., Kelsey T., and Samantha B., as well as Senior manager Allison F., all made great contributions to the basketball program. The Girls Junior Varsity continued a tradition of successful teams with a 7-2 league record, good for

2nd place. The Warriors lost a close one, 30-24, to Indian Creek in the tournament semifinals, but still had a great season.

Girls Indoor Soccer: The Girls Indoor Soccer team had a fun season and worked very hard, but lost to Key School in the first round of the playoffs.

Boys Swimming: The Boys Varsity Swim Team took sixth place out of nine teams at this year’s MIAA B Conference Championship, with first place finished by Nolan P. ‘16 , Jack L. ‘19, and Jacob B. ‘19.

Girls Swimming: The Girls Swim team finished with a 4-1 record, tied with St. Timothy’s for first in the league. Olivia P. ’18, Abigail B. ’16, Melanie B. ’17, and Meira K. ’19 were the team’s top swimmers, dominating in the relay events throughout the season. The team advanced to the IAAM C Conference Championships, where they took fourth place out of six teams, and with many swimming posting their best times in their individual races.
