BORSIG Process Heat Exchanger GmbH - 1000th “Tunnelflow” Transfer Line Exchanger Completed

On 18th December 2015 BORSIG Process Heat Exchanger GmbH, a member of the BORSIG Group, officially completed its 1000th “Tunnelflow” transfer line exchanger (also known as quench cooler), representing a further milestone in the company’s history which extends back to over 175 years.

The transfer line exchanger is part of an order from an affiliate of a French oil company located in Belgium, and will be delivered on 30th May 2016. In Antwerp, the French company is currently refurbishing Europe’s third-biggest refinery and petrochemical plant. BORSIG has been manufacturing transfer line exchangers for more than 50 years now. During this period, the design of the BORSIG quench coolers has been developed and constantly improved. The currently completed “Tunnelflow” transfer line exchanger of the so called 3rd generation of its kind is another good example of a high-quality product “Made by BORSIG”.

FBM Hudson Italiana Sponsors Green Environmental to Local Community 14 March 2015

KNM CANADA PARTICIPATED IN CANADA DAY PARADE1 July 2015

FBM Hudson Italiana sponsored Evbility’s Electric Vehicle Mobility which supplies new technologies for electric vehicles and fast charging stations. This eco-sustainable mobility service is offered free of charge to local Municipalities.

Thanks to Evbility, charging stations for electric vehicles are provided for free. The charging stations use electricity from the national grid, allowing electric vehicles to move without discharging CO2 and respecting the environment and the future of our quality of life.

On 1 July 1867, The British North America Act (today known as the Constitution Act, 1867) was signed, creating Canada. On 20 June 1868, Governor General Lord Monck signed a proclamation requesting that all Her Majesty’s subjects across Canada celebrate 1 July. On 15 May 1879, a federal law was passed making 1 July a statutory holiday as the “Anniversary of Confederation”, which was later called “Dominion Day”. Then on 27 October 1982, “Dominion Day” officially became “Canada Day”.

On 1 July 2015, the town of Tofield hosted its annual Canada Day celebration and KNM Process Equipment Inc. showed its support by entering a float in the parade. Such an exciting day!! The night before saw the torrential rain, at one point coming down so hard it was thought the parade would be cancelled. The Parade Day began with a haze but thankfully there was no rain. The KNM team gathered at the office to put finishing touches on the float and then proceeded to the muster point.

As the parade rounded the first bend, the crowd was cheering on the KNM contingent and the cheers and applause got louder as we neared town. Most employees and their children rode on the float but a few chose to walk beside. Everyone had a great time, throwing KNM packaged candies and mini Nerf footballs to the crowd that lined the streets of Tofield. There were so many great entries for the parade in addition to the huge Clydesdales, a large farm tractor along with a few miniature horses driven by KNM’s staff. The parade lasted about an hour, winding through some tight twists and turns but KNM’s truck driver navigated the route like a pro.

We would like to thank the many people whose efforts were integral in getting the float ready and those who participated in the parade. Donned in matching Canada t-shirts, children and adults alike had a great time and are already looking forward to next year’s celebration!

KBR Charity Golf Tournament16 September 2015

The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race 201629 March 2016

The FBM Hudson Italiana Golf Team - Will Cottle, Rose Griffith, Monica Ruiz and our representative from USA, Frank Allen won 2nd Place at the 9th Annual KBR Golf Tournament held on September 16th, 2015 in Houston, Texas. The team scored 12 under par with a total of 60. FBM Hudson Italiana also sponsored a complimentary drink cart for the event, which all participants enjoyed. As a result of the huge participation KBR raised and donated $525,000 to charity.

The much anticipated, The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race 2015 which has been postponed twice from its original date of 8th September 2015, finally came to a great and no less than an awesome wrap on 29th March 2016.

The event saw hundreds of runners from various corporations participating in this annual race with full charge of energy and the desire to win, and of course to have a jolly good time. Just before the race started, almost everyone including the supporters were warming up to the dance movements and music beats led by a fitness instructor, it was really pretty fun. Despite the 35 degrees Celsius heat that was literally boiling down on everyone, the race flagged off without any glitch. First we saw the CEOs took off, our very own Mr Terence Tan completed his 1.5km run at 9:01minutes, earning him an 18th placing out of 41 male CEOs, Kudos to him! And then we have our Ms Sarita Lee, who touched the finishing line at 9:59 minutes, putting her in the no. 3 spot out of 7 female CEOs…Congratulations Sarita!!!

While both Terence and Sarita were cooling off the heat from their backs, the race gun went off signalling the main race of 4km being flagged off. The excitement was overwhelming with the supporters cheering, the whistle blowing, the air horns roaring and the drums banging. While the race was ongoing, back at the main stage, cheerleading teams went head to head trying to vow the judges with their cheerleading skills.

Our runner from IT department, Mr Andy Francis proved his credentials by clocking in at 22:12 minutes, securing him the no. 1 spot amongst the 10 KNM runners. GO ANDY! Our flight ticketing lady, Ms Janice Loo did very well too, being the first female KNM runner who returned to the finishing line at 27:48 minutes. Everyone who returned, almost all of them basically said the same thing “It is too hot, we had to stop”. Nonetheless, they all made us proud especially Ms Sarita.

Soon after the last runner came back, everyone was ushered to the neighbouring Saloma restaurant for dinner and prize giving ceremony. There were performances by ASTRO’s artistes who danced and sang while everyone enjoyed their delightful buffet meal. Prizes were given to the rightful winners and charity cheques totalling RM1.3 million were presented to various charities and non-governmental organizations. Last but not least, the lucky draw which was the highlight of the evening saw the lucky ones taking home some really awesome gifts eg. GO PRO cameras and Samsung tablets!!!

OF HEALTH AND SAFETY

Fire Drill15 December 2015

Fire drills are far more than just fires. Knowing the evacuation routes of a building will help in the event of fire, to ensure that all employees safely exit the building in timely manner. In order to ensure that all our employees are in play and be reminded of their respective roles during emergency, a fire drill was held on 15th December 2015 at KNM HQ. The emergency alarm went off at around 11.15am signaling an “emergency” has occurred which required immediate evacuation. Footsteps and the buzzling of employees rushing down the stairs can be heard. While everyone was trying to gather at the “Meeting Point”, smoke was spotted at the 1st floor of KNM’s building, with the siren of fire engine heard closing in from afar. Firemen unloaded their equipment and immediately rushed in for the ‘rescue’. Minutes later, 2 employees were brought out on stretchers and medical volunteers were seen attending to their wounds right after. The drill and rescue was executed successfully and ended with a closing speech by COO of KNM Process Systems, Encik Zainudin Zulkifli who spoke on the importance of conducting fire drills and that it should not be taken lightly even though it is merely a drill.

Blood donation has now become an ordinary part of life especially to those avid donors who would never miss a chance to help the needy. Every day, someone from somewhere around the world needs blood transfusion which does not come easy be it insufficient blood supply or unsuitable blood type. In light of this, many are encouraged to donate their blood especially those who had never done it in their life.

Speaking of avid donors, KNM employees are never short of eagerness to lend a helping hand whenever a blood donation drive knocks on its door. The recent blood donation drive at KNM HQ included an opportunity to make an organ pledge as well. Certainly there were many proud repeat and new blood donors with a collection of certificates earned for each donation and ultimately a big satisfaction when they know they did the right thing, to donate their blood and save lives.
