A. Lee’s plans were found by a Union soldier.B. General McClellan from the North moved

slowly to attack the Confederacy. C. McClellan’s troops faced Lee’s troops at

the Antietam Creek in Sharpsburg, Maryland.

A. Off to find shoes in the North, Lee’s Confederate troops marched to Gettysburg.

B. They ran into the Union troops and battled for 3 days.

C. The Union struggled to hold their ground at Cemetery Ridge.

D. Lee sent his troops with General Pickett to attack the Union from behind their lines.

E. The turning point came when Pickett’s Charge failed.

F. The Confederates were getting defeated.

G. Lee lost over 1/3 of his army and had to retreat back to Virginia.

A. Ulysses S. Grant used his troops in Vicksburg to defeat the Confederacy.

B. He surrounded the city, occupied by the Confederates and shut them off from any supplies.

C. After running out of food, the Confederates surrendered.
