Barolo Wine Tour: Traditional vs Modern Style 2-day wine tour

Wine connoisseurs know very well what names like Mascarello or Elio Altare stand for. Decades of history in wine making in Piedmont have now created an outstanding range of differently-shaped Barolos: from up to 40-day-long macerations to the shorter approach with horizontal fermenters of the modern producers, big casks or the smaller French oak barriques – these are just some elements which contribute to make wines with different flavour, taste and degrees of longevity and complexity. Discover this unique world of Barolo production with our private 2-day in-depth wine tour through famous villages like La Morra, Barolo, Verduno, Monforte, Serralunga and Castiglione Falletto.

Wine & Truffle Tour

Private guided tour in the Asti and Monferrato area, also part of UNESCO World Heritage, where the hills produce the third great jewel of the local wine-making scenario, Barbera d'Asti, and the unique black and white truffles (black truffles from February to September, white truffles from mid September to early January).

Tour Highlights: Meet truffle hunter near Asti to enjoy a unique experience that is worth to remember. Discover everything about

truffles: local traditions, growth environment, overview of truffle varieties and characteristics. Tour on foot of the historic city centre followed by some time free for shopping along the main street and in the weekly market (Wednesdays and Saturdays).

Monferrato Wine Tour

Private guided tour in the southern Monferrato to discover the typical wines of the area like the sparkling Spumante, Moscato d’Asti and Barbera d’Asti.

Tour Highlights: Visit a Barbera d’Asti producer. Traditionally, Barbera was for everyday drinking, but about thirty years ago Giacomo

Bologna with his “Bricco dell’Uccellone” gave Barbera wine a chance to step out of Nebbiolo’s shadow. Barbera makes dark wines that are low in tannins, thus French oak lends wine tannins of its own, giving this newer style of Barbera the balanced structure it needs to support the added richness. Wine-tasting will follow the visit.

Possible visit of the medieval city of Asti or other village nearby.

Transfer to Canelli, the homeland of Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti. Visit one of the so-called “underground cathedrals, recognized by UNESCO as world heritage, i.e. spumante refining cellars of famous historic wineries like Contratto, Gancia, Bosca, etc.). Wine-tasting will follow the visit.

TOUR DURATION: from/to the wine region itself max. 7 hours; from/to Turin max. 8 hours (including travel distances from/to hotel). Limited availability of wineries on Saturdays and Sundays

INCLUDED: professional tour/wine guide; visit of 2 wineries including wine-tasting fees; transportation (if required). NOT INCLUDED: lunch.

Cooking Experiences

Food is one of the highlights of Piedmontese culture. It would be impossible to describe the region without mentioning recipes that are landmarks of its history and reflect its tradition. Food is culture, but it’s much more, too. Tempting Piedmontese products are second to none: a wide range of “antipasti” (starters), from stuffed vegetables, to vitello tonnato and bagna caoda (typical garlic sauce); fresh hand-made pasta like tajarin and ravioli del plin; more refined meat courses like brasato al Barolo; to finish with, delicious desserts like bunet (chocolate pudding), hazelnut cake or panna cotta.

Cooking Class for Individuals Discover the classical regional cuisine of Piedmont through our hands-on cooking classes at a local family-owned restaurant or winery in the Barolo area of production. You will learn how to prepare some of the most typical dishes of our region: one appetizer, hand-made pasta, and a dessert. Following the class, some time to rest with a glass of wine, then enjoy lunch at the restaurant and sample the food prepared in the morning.
