Aran Bike Parks (Vall d'Aran, Vielha, Lleida)

From our point of view, ARAN BIKE PARKS aka ABP, is characterized by two factors that make it particularly special and interesting:

The first factor is the incredible landscape environment where they have built their tracks; ABP is located in the Vall d'Aran; almost all of the tracks start in Bassa d'Oles which is a lake-basin situated in the upper area of the mountain above the town of Vielha. This geographical location makes ABP a unique bikepark with spectacular views and pectacular flora and wildlife in the Catalan Pyrenees.

In addition, the tracks could be described as sandy-clay with incredible compact grip (even in rain ;)). So fun is guaranteed!!!

The second factor is the great cultural and gastronomic choices across entire valley, making it an ideal spot for a holiday, with family, with friends, ...

...Sometimes you run out of words to describe an experience of visiting a new place for a few days, and the best way to do it is focusing on the first thought that comes to your mind: “I would kill to come back there”.

This is how Corebicycle team feels and that thought is crossing our minds since we spent a few days enjoying the ARAN BIKE PARKS (Vall d’Aran, Vielha, Lleida, Spain).

The BikePark:

Aran Bike Parks (ABP) is a medium sized bike park with tracks for all the levels:• 1 green track: very playful, wide, long flow without stones or roots that complicate. Ideal for warming up or for downhill beginners.

• 1 blue track: to describe just say that we made it about 7 times !!! LOL ... has a good flow, cambers with much support, it's a long track (this is about 5 km downstream !!!), with small jumps, and a wood drop with perfect landing, ...

• 2 tracks which have hosted Catalan Cup racing: what can we say about these tracks: funny, techniques, with jumps, with double, with roots, with tilt, with stones ... but mostly, thanks to the spectacular terrain that features the area, with unparalleled grip!

• 1 track called Project: ... how to describe?: "Try it !!! Because fun is guaranteed!!! "... it is not for beginners but it's a track that has loopholes for everything so it's another to add to the list of “MUST BE DONE"!!!

• In addition to some sections that link to the main slopes (like "Champery") which we have mentioned before for a high technical level.

How does the BikePark work?

Aran Bike Park is a bike park where the ABP crew offer van lift services; which means that this bike park not only opens in summer but depending on the snow: the park is open when there is no snow !!!.This makes for a bike park which can be enjoyed from almost May to November almost!!!In addition to the enduro: there are amazing routes ... if you go there, ask them to take you to the roller coaster track (we have baptized with that name !!!;)): such a great fun and flow in just 3 kilometers down !!! The price of the liftsThe cost of ABP services is 25 € / person for the full day lift (consult ABP for possible changes) (minimum group of 2-3 people and up to 12); they adapt to the needs of riders: the customer decides what tracks wants to do, what time wants to stop to eat, ... etc.The atmosphere in the ABP team is formidable: friendly and close :).

Essentials:To eat: for a quick snack or lunch at very affordable price (with a stop between Lift and Lift): "Luis Bar". Do not forget that the sandwiches are HUGE and is mandatory try one of their “sartenes” ... yummy. In the evening: Go for tapas !!! The offer is amazing ... if you are in Vielha cannot skip pies and cakes of Woolloomoolloo ceps or mushrooms and potatoes pan sautéed from Vilhito's

Note: If you are in the area on a Tuesday dont miss the “pincho-pote” which consist on visiting every bar and restaurant in the area!!If you prefer a more formal dinner in a restaurant, you have to go to the Italian in Vielha (at the entrance of the town, across the street from the Civil Guard) or Urtau (located in the center of town) which has a varied menu and is open till late. - See more at:
