The Parco Geominerario Storico e Ambientale della

Sardegna (Historical Geo-Mineralogical and Environmental

Park of Sardinia) extends north-south from Capo Testa to

Domus de Maria in a discontinuous manner, subdivided into 8

areas which together cover 3500 squared km and envelop 85

municipalities. Its main characteristic? It is not only a naturalistic

park, but also of an organisation which strives to keep the memory of

its mining past alive. It does this through its museums, sites open to the public,

archives, industrial archaeology, restorations and scientific research, all recognising and

bringing out the richness of the territory in archaeological and geological terms. In the

park there are eleven sites open to the public:
