Call to Worship
Leader: Jesus said “I am the light of the world, the one who
follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the
light of life.
People: The people who walked in darkness have seen a great
light.
Leader: Those who have dwelt in the land of deep darkness, on
them light has shined!
People: Dear God, our world is in darkness. We need the light
of peace and love to shine in our world. Help us to
prepare our lives and homes to receive the Christ born
among us. Amen.
*Hymn - “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” GTG #88
*Prayer of Confession
We confess, O God, that we do not take seriously your coming
in to our lives. We do not believe that salvation is near, we do
not act uprightly, loving you, our neighbors or ourselves. We do
not bend our swords into plowshares. Forgive us, we pray, that
we might once again walk in your light, choosing for the world
of Christ. Amen.
*Words of Assurance
Leader: This is the good news in Jesus Christ.
People: That we stand before God, not through our own goodness,
Leader: But through God’s great kindness to us.
People: Rejoice and be glad, for God comes to us!
*Congregational Response - “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” GTG #583
Gloria, gloria, in Excelsis Deo.
Gloria, gloria, alleluia, alleluia

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD
*Affirmation of Faith - Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven
and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was
conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He
descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God
the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the
quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the
communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of
the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Offering - “In thanksgiving render to God that portion of your substance

Nominating Committee:
This church is so blessed to have the dedicated and supportive mem-
bership that we do! There are many ways we can give, not just finan-
cially but also we can give our time and talents toward the future of
Collingswood Presbyterian Church.
Candace Lowden, Martha Jane Caldwell Bates and Dennis Kolecki are
serving as your Nominating Committee this year, and it is time to
prayerfully consider your place in the future of our church.
We have a place for 3 Deacons and 1 Session member (Elders) for 3
year terms. We are also looking for 2 Deacons for 1 year terms. We
are also looking for a member of our Senior High youth to be a Youth
Deacon. Please prayerfully consider your role in the future of our
church; the direction you’d like to see us go in, the activities and pro-
grams you want to see in place, and how we can continue to grow in
spirit and fellowship with each other in this service.
“The call to serve as elder is a call to serve the spiritual as well as administrative
needs of God’s people. It’s a call to build up the body of Christ, which means much
more than planning for building repairs or making budget adjustments. It means
ensuring that the members of the body have the opportunity to be engaged in the
type of ministry and mission that will help them achieve spiritual maturity. El-
ders are called to be spiritual leaders, strengthening and nurturing the faith and
life of the congregation committed to their charge.”
“The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness,
and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Deacons at CPC create a hos-
pitable fellowship, a warm welcome and compassionate outreach to our
members who are ill and homebound. They also have a vital ministry reach-
ing beyond our walls to the Colls community and nearby areas in need.”
