COLLINGSWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY

November 15, 2015 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME

Silent Prayer

When no one else will listen to us, we can pour out our soul to you; when no one notices us, you see our misery, and fill us with joy;

when everyone else forgets who we are, you remember us and call us by name. You are our Spirit of Love, and we welcome you

into our hearts.

Welcome and Announcements We welcome you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! Please sign the guest book in the narthex so we can send you a welcome packet.

Gathering of Prayer Concerns and Joys Please raise your hand to share your joys or concerns to be included in the prayers of the people this day. You may also write your concern on the pink sheets and hand to the Pastor. Please mail a prayer card from the narthex to your loved one.

Congregational Concerns Elder Candace Lowden Centering Music - “Our Song Shall Rise to Thee” by Joseph Martin Chancel Choir (Please stand for items marked with an asterisk. GTG is the purple “Glory to God” hymnal. STF is the “Sing the Faith” smaller blue hymnal)

Call to Worship Leader: Come, let us give thanks to God! People: We gather together to praise the One who strengthens the weak, and hears the prayers of the forgotten. Leader: Come, let us give thanks to Christ! People: We gather together to sing of the One who calls us to serve those who are hungry and alone at this time of year. Leader: Come, let us give thanks to the Spirit! People: We gather together to exalt the One who provokes us to love not only our family and friends, but the guest among us.

*Hymn - “Lead on O Cloud of Presence ” STF #2234 *Prayer of Confession Leader: Longing for the touch of God, we cry out; humbled by the awareness of our human nature and brokenness, we bring our prayers of confession to God, praying together, ALL: We have to admit, Holy Listener, that we are more likely to be irritated by the lives of others, rather than being provoked to love them. When we are called to encourage those around us, too often our actions and words discourage them. Offered lives of peace and hope, we wander around filled with anxiety and des pair. Forgive us, Rock of Redemption. Cleanse our hearts, so we might be more loving; keep us on the path of faithfulness, so we might find those whom we are called to serve; give us your words, so we might confess your hope offered to all who are broken, who are lost, who cry out to you. This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

*Assurance of Pardon Leader: This is the good news: God gives us hope, God gives us peace, God gives us joy so we may share these gifts with everyone we meet. People: Thanks be to God, who has forgiven us and provoked us to love others and to serve all who are around us. Amen. *Musical response - “Lamb of God” GTG #555 (sing twice) O Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world Have mercy on us, Lamb of God, and grant us your peace *Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you.

*Apostles’ Creed (unison) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

Offering

“How do we follow Jesus? We try to live our lives as he did – the example of the perfect steward. Stewardship is discipleship. It is the care and use of all that we have been given by God and

is often explained in terms of talent, treasure and time.”

Musical Meditation - “Spirit of God, Open My Heart” Chancel Choir *Hymn of Dedication “We Give Thee But Thine Own” GTG #708 We give thee but Thine own,

Whate’er the gift may be, All that we have is Thine alone, A trust, O Lord, from Thee.

Prayer Song - “The Servant Song” Chancel Choir

Prayers of the People Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray,

All: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
