Anzac Cove (or Anzak Bay) is a small cove on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey. It became famous as the site of World War I landing of the ANZACs on 25 April 1915. The cove is 600 metres (2,000 ft) long, bounded by the headlands of Arıburnu to the north and Little Arıburnu, known as Hell Spit, to the south.

The Historic National Park of the Gelibolu Peninsula was established to honour the 500,000 soldiers who lost their lives in Gelibolu, also known as Gallipoli. The park accommodates memorials, monuments and cemeteries as well as the natural beauty of the Arıburnu Cliffs and Tuz Gölü (Salt Lake). The beauty of the green hills, sandy beaches and blue waters are an honourable resting place for the soldiers who bravely fought and died in this historic battle.

Surrounded by pine trees with a smell of intense resin in the salty air by the Aegean coasts, the vineyards have the hardpan soil and the northwest winds prevailing the micro climate which provides highly convenient terroir for the maturation of high quality grapes.

Vineyards were established in 2003 as a family owned venture in Eceabat with the goal of producing wines of great density and rich character with elegant and exquisite finish.

60 hectares of organic vineyards have wide variety of vines and nestled in the historical Peninsula of Gallipoli between the North Aegean coast and the Marmara seas. White varieties are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne and reds are; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Noir, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir. Local varieties are Kınalı Yapıncak and Karasakız which are peculiar to the historical peninsula.

Vineyards were set under the certification of ‘Good Agriculture Practice-GAP’. They were switched to organic certification by 2013. Green harvest and leaf removal is being performed during the summer months and a manual harvest directed by expert winegrowers. Times of harvest are determined by the ripeness of the grapes.

The timing is based on the winemaker’s decision according to the style of wine to be produced. The harvest is always at dawn break and the grapes are sent to winery’s cold rooms right away

to ensure their characteristics have been preserved.

Winery Established in 2009, the modern style winery boasts 5200 square meters and houses a facility of traditional olive oil mill for producing extra virgin olive oil as well as processing

olive and natural agricultural products. The determination to achieve consistent success as a winery is based on the painstaking approach taken in the vineyards. The winery is only 3 to14

km far from vineyards, which plays a crucial role to make possible to obtain ultimate quality Chateu style wines. Suvla winemakers team and cellar persons follow up the hard work done in

the vineyards by adopting an equally attitude in the cellars. Focusing on quality, working with leaders in all equipment and with latest technologies, winery processes incorporating state-of-

the art technology and knowhow.

Day 3 – 12 August 2018, SundayVisit of Troy

With over five thousand years of history, Troy has been a fertile source of inspiration for bards and poets, and has gained immortality in the imagination of those who have read her story.

Troy, which forms a priceless part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, welcomes visitors to be inspired by her magical history and precious archaeological finds.

The first excavations at the site were undertaken by the famous archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in 1870. In scientific terms, its extensive remains are the most significant demonstration of the first contact between the civilizations of Anatolia and the Mediterranean world.

The ancient city of Troy is situated some 30 kms from Çanakkale, near Tevfikiye village in İntepe. Known in history as Troas, the history of Çanakkale region as a place of settlement goes back to 5000 BC (Late Neolithic Age). It spreads over an area of 9737 km2 and its coastline is 671 km long.

Geographically, Troy is set at a strategic point, at the crossroads of two continents where trade routes converge. The significance of Troy is not due only to the value of the archaeological finds discovered here, but also to the skill of Homer, the famous bard from İzmir, who immortalized Troy in “The Iliad”. This epic story has proved to have a lasting attraction throughout the ages.

The excavations, carried out in the ancient city of Troy, have brought to light the fact that the first settlement goes back to 3000 BC.

Troy is a 16-meter high settlement mound, like those seen in Anatolia, in the whole of south-western Asia and in the southeast. Due to the convenience of its location, the hill was settled by various civilizations at different times. Excavations have revealed a total of 9 periods of settlement in this ancient city, which was established 5 thousand years ago.
