Eagles: Allan Holland is in his ninth season at UPIKE, and fifth as the head football coach; making him the longest tenured head coach in the 18-year history of the program and the program’s all-time wins leader. In Holland’s four years as Head Coach his teams have produced 1 All-Americans, 29 All-Conference Players, 20 Academic All-Confer-ence, 5 NAIA Scholar Athletes, 2 MSC Champions of Character award winners and MSC Coach of the Year in 2016. Since Holland took over as Offensive Coordinator in 2010, he has utilized a wide-open, spread offense which has rewritten a majority of the record books at UPIKE. The 2017 season saw the Bears post a 3-3 record in the MSC Appala-chian Division. It also brought an abundance of accolades to Holland’s team on the individual level. There were 10 athletes placed on the All-MSC Appalachian teams, another 10 on the Academic All-MSC team, and 3 outstanding students were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Holland’s third season at the helm brought history to the program as a 5-1 finish in the MSC East Division gave the Bears a share of their first conference championship. UPIKE earned the co-title with Georgetown after beating the Tigers for the first time in program history on a last-sec-ond field goal in the season finale. Known for a high-powered offense, UPIKE took a more defensive approach in 2016 to obtain the league championship, including the nation’s second-best pass defense, allowing just 133.7 yards per game through the air. As a total defense, the Bears ranked 26th in the NAIA at 349 yards allowed per contest. In his first season at the helm, Holland led the Bears to a 4-2, third-place finish in the MSC East. UPIKE went 5-6 overall in 2014, including wins in the final three games of the season. The Perry County Central graduate won two Ohio Valley Conference Championships as the quarterback at Eastern Kentucky University in 2007 and 2008 and earned OVC Player of the Year honors in 2007. Holland transferred to EKU after starting his collegiate career at Wake Forest from 2004 to 2006. After graduating from EKU with a degree in physical education, Holland became the offensive graduate assistant/quarterback coach for the Colonels. Holland coached T.J. Pryor, who became OVC Freshman of the Year in 2009.
