Some of our Year 5 students were also trained as backup. Many thanks to Mr Lihou and Mrs Quilliam for their organisation of the day. When I visited the hall to see how things were going I witnessed students who were working hard at being a cohesive group and learning how to better support each other. I really appreciated this approach by our teachers because ultimately if our peer leaders are demonstrating resilience, problem solving and healthy, positive relationships as a group, they have a far better chance of leading others in the same direction. Charlie Truck arrives tomorrow and our class councillors as well as SRC will be sharing some ideas on how we believe Wagga Wagga City Council should be creating plans for our city over the next few years. If your child, or you, would like to join in, keep an eye out for Charlie’s second visit to the North Wagga Hall in a couple of weeks’ time. The whole community can then have valuable input. Mr Montgomery will be supervising our students tomorrow. On Thursday our school leaders will be joining me at Charles Sturt University for the annual GRIP Student Leadership Conference. The core values of the conference again fit in well with our repeated message. They are: GENEROSITY Willingness to use what you have been given (time and resources) on behalf of those you seek to influence. RESPONSIBILITY We all have a responsibility to develop what we have and help others to live well. INTEGRITY A commitment to truth and honesty in dealings. PEOPLE Every human being is of great significance, and has a purpose to fulfil. Our school is full of great students because of our shared, ongoing commitment with families to develop all aspects of your child. With so many opportunities to continue growing into amazing people, it’s little wonder why the students at North Wagga are well known for their citizenship and thoughtfulness. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Our Year 6 students had a great day last Friday being trained as Peer Support Leaders.

Have a great week,

NUT ALLERGY AWARENESS

As we have several students who have been diagnosed with an allergy to nuts, we are asking parents not

to send any food products containing nuts to school (this includes peanut butter sandwiches).

It is important to understand that even trace amounts of food can cause a severe reaction so we are asking

everyone to just be aware of how serious this allergy can be.

GOOD LUCK!!!

PSSA Soccer On Wednesday the mighty North Wagga Freestylers took on Turvey Park in Round 1 of the PSSA Soccer knockout. We were playing at Kessler Park. We arrived early so we could warm up. We ran on and started the game feeling confident that we could win. The team started off the game really well with early goals from Clayton and Lincoln. At half-time the score was 5-0 but the team still felt fresh. In the second-half we dominated with lots of late goals. We had lots of fun and won 10-0. Owen Ranby

MESSAGE TO PARENTS/CARERS Keep Kids Safe: #parentscheckthecheck!

Parents or carers who engage the services of a private tutor or coach have an important role to play in helping to keep their children safe. From 1st April 2016 adults who provide private tuition or coaching services to children will need to obtain a new Working With Children Check. The Certificate for Self Employed People will no longer be valid after their expiry date and the certificate holders will need to apply for a new Working With Children Check. Parents or carers should ask their child’s tutor or coach for their name, date of birth and their Working With Children Check number. They must then go online and verify the tutor or coach is not barred from working with children in NSW. Verifying that a tutor or coach can work with children is quick and easy – just follow the simple steps at www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/parentscheckthecheck

If you suspect that an adult is providing services to children without a Working With Children Check you can go online to make a confidential report or phone (02) 9286 7219. Help to keep kids safe by sharing #parentscheckthecheck with your family and friends through your own social media networks.
