2018NBI Clearance Application Guidelines 1 APPLICATION FOR AN NBI CLEARANCE FROM ABROAD OBTAINING A NATIONAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (NBI) CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE FROM OUTSIDE THE PHILIPPINES *** FIRSTTIME APPLICANTS FOR NBI CLEARANCE *** PLEASE NOTE: There are 2 stages in the NBI clearance process. STAGE 1/ Is getting the completed and fingerprinted NBI form certified at a Consulate. This costs $45AUD (Cash, Cheque, Money Order Payable to the Philippine Consulate) STAGE 2/ Once it is certified by the Hon. Consul General then it is returned to you. You need to then send it to NBI Manila to be processed. This costs you 200 pesos (Cash ONLY Accepted NBI Manila). STAGE 1 Certification in Australia 1. Request an NBI clearance application form (NBI Form 5)(also known as “fingerprint card”) from your nearest Philippine Consulate. The blank NBI clearance application form is free to receive. 2. Once you have received the NBI fingerprint card, you will then be required to fill in your personal information on both sides of the card. Fill it out truthfully and as legibly as possible, so that it can be clearly read. 3. For married women, please observe the following order when writing your name: Your maiden surname (Father’s surname) Your husband’s surname Your first name or given name Your maternal surname (Family name of your mother) 4. You are then required to go to a police station to have your fingerprints impressed on to the NBI fingerprint card. The official who assists applicant in taking the rolled fingerprint impressions must also sign and write down their name and designation on the space provided in the NBI clearance application form. The police station will also stamp the NBI fingerprint card with their seal. 5. Prepare a recent passportsized [approx. 2”x2”] photo with a white background, taken within three (3) months prior to NBI application. 6. Prepare a clear photocopy of the data page of your current passport stamped/signed by a Justice of Peace. 7. For married women, prepare a clear photocopy of your Marriage Certificate signed/stamped by a Justice of Peace. SAMPLE OF FILLED IN NBI FORM 8. Once completed kindly forward the NBI application to our office via mail (PO Box 186, Biggera Waters, Qld, 4216) for certification with the following: 1 x passport sized photo; JP certified copy of your passport; JP certified copy of your marriage certificate (for married women only); Selfaddressed Express post envelope: Fee: $45 per person payable to the Philippine Consulate by cheque, money order or cash. Please note we work on a 7day turnaround Once the NBI form is authenticated and certified then you need to send it to NBI in Manila. STAGE 2 Processing in Manila The Philippine Embassy/Consulate will not be processing your NBI clearance. This is done in Manila at the NBI. Remember to include your Email Address so you hear back from NBI Manila when it is processed! The NBI will send a copy of the processed NBI to the applicant via email before posting back the hard copy. There are two options you can use to send the application to the NBI in Manila. OPTION 1: Send the completed NBI fingerprint card form directly to the NBI office in the Philippines. Remember to enclose a payment in the form of Php 200.00 Cash (two hundred pesos). NOTE: Bank Cheques are no longer accepted. Only Cash in Pesos. NOTE: We recommend that you use an International Courier rather than Standard Post as this is more secure once it leaves Australia. This is to ensure your NBI form and payment arrives safely at the NBI. The form should be addressed to: Ms. Sandra P. Sobida Attention: Mailed Clearance Section National Bureau of Investigation Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines The NBI clearance certificate will be mailed to you upon completion. Processing usually takes five days, excluding transit time. OPTION 2: Through a Representative You may also send the completed NBI Fingerprint Card / Form to a friend or relative who is currently residing in the Philippines. Don’t forget to enclose a Letter of Authorization allowing them to process the application on your behalf. IMPORTANT: Upon receiving your NBI clearance certificate, examine it closely to ascertain the presence of the NBI dry seal. This should be found at the lower left section of the certificate. The NBI clearance is invalid without it. Also, make sure to affix your thumbprint in the allocated space by visiting your local police station. THIS PROCESS ALSO APPLIES TO FOREIGN NATIONALS WHO HAD LIVED IN THE PHILIPPINES AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT AN NBI CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE.

 ***  RENEWAL  APPLICANTS  OF  NBI  CLEARANCE  ***    If  you  have  your  Original  Personal  Processed  NBI  form  from  2014  or  more  recent  then  you  can  post  it  to  Manila  along  with  the  following:      

• 200  Pesos  Cash,    • Recent  2x2  Passport  Photo  (Less  than  3  months  old).
