    The continued design collaboration

    of Browning and FN produces

    autoloading pistols, the BAR and

    belt-fed machine guns which help

the Allies defeat the Central Powers

    in WWI.

The FN P90 begins service with

    elite law enforcement agencies and

    security services around the globe.

    Browning-designed automatic ries,

pistols and machine guns made by

    FN and many other manufacturers

are critical to the war effort. Once

    liberated from German occupation

    FN is tasked with refurbishing

more than two million U.S. small

    arms from the European Theater

    of Operation.

FNH USA is established to manage

marketing, sales and service of FN

    rearms in the United States.

    FN produces the Hi Power

(GP 35), FAL, FNC and M2HB QCB for

the Western world, and soon earns

the reputation as the right arm

of the free world. The Hi Power

    remains the benchmark against

    which all other 9mm autoloading

    service pistols are measured.

The FN 303 Less Lethal Launcher

is introduced as the premier less-

    lethal system for law enforcement.

The U.S. Military adopts both the

    FN MINIMI Squad Automatic

Weapon (M249) and the FN MAG

    58 General Purpose Machine

Gun (M240). FN opens a plant in

    Columbia, South Carolina to build

small arms for the U.S. Military.

The FN SPR A3G precision bolt-

    action rie becomes available to

the U.S. law enforcement market. It

is also selected by the FBI as their

    precision tactical rie.

FN wins the contract to produce

M16 ries for the U.S. Military

    at their plant in Columbia,

    South Carolina.

    The FN Five-seveN pistol begins

    service with elite law enforcement

    and security services around

    the world.

FN expands upon the success of the

Browning M2 and M3AN with the

GAU-21 (M3M) which res from the

open bolt with twice the rate of re

of the M2 as well as the ability to

    re at extreme angles.

    FN introduces the large caliber

    FNP-45 polymer-framed autoloading

    pistol and the selective-re SCAR

16 and SCAR 17 to the U.S. law

    enforcement market.

    FN SCAR, designated as

the MK 16 and MK 17,

    is now being operationally

    deployed around the

    globe by USSOCOM,

    along with the MK 13

    Grenade Launcher.

    1897

    John M. Browning rst

    began working with FN

    in 1897. During their

    partnership FN produced

    numerous Browning-

    designed weapons for

    the Western world.

    Browning visited the FN

    factory 61 times until his

    death in Belgium in 1926.

For more than 100 years Fabrique Nationale (FN) has equipped Americas l aw enforcement ofcers, as well as the soldiers, sailors, airmen and

Marines of her military forces and her allies. From legacy systems like the BAR, M2 and Hi Power pistol that were designed by John M. Browning,

to todays M240, M249, M2HB QCB, LRWS, GAU-21 and the USSOCOM SCAR, FN stands at the cutting-edge of both l aw enforcement and military

weapons. Thats why a majority of the small arms used by the U.S. Military today proudly bear the FN mark of quality.

Emerging from the U.S. Special Operations Force

Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) program, the

MK 16 and MK 17 weapon systems use a

    common multi-caliber architecture that is

highly modular and instantly adaptable to

virtually any mission requirements, and is

further enhanced by the MK 13 grenade

launcher. Built with an eye toward the

economic realities and small logistic footprint

requirements of todays highly mobile military,

every component of the SCAR Family is readily

adaptable to future upgrades and enhanced

ammunition designs. Overall life cycle costs are

reduced and nearly all maintenance can be easily

accomplished at the operator or unit armorer level.

The FN SCAR is serving on the front lines with

America's warghters in the defense of freedom.

THE NEW PARADIGM IN ASSAULT RIFLES.

WHEN THE MISSION IS DEFENDING FREEDOM, THE WEAPON IS MADE BY FN.

Since its adoption as the AR15 by the U.S. Air

Force in 1962, and by the U.S. Army as the M16

in 1964, the basic individual military weapon of

the United States has demonstrated certain

compromises inherent in its design and cycle

    of operation.

Foremost among these compromises is the

    M16s direct-impingement gas operation

system. During the ring and ejection cycles,

substantial amounts of carbon and other by-

products of cartridge combustion are routed

directly into the bolt and receiver areas, causing

    increased fouling. Naturally this increased

fouling results in reduced operating reliability

and requires greater frequency of cleaning and

other maintenance by the weapon operator.

Responding to concerns from the Special

    Operations community regarding the reliability,

accuracy, safety and ergonomics of the current

M16/M4 platform, the Naval Surface Warfare

Center, Crane, began an investigation for

potential improvements. In the years that

followed the U.S. Government conducted an

Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to determine if

enhancements or upgrades could be made to

the existing M16/M4 platform, or if a new

weapon was needed. It was determined that a

new, more reliable and more adaptable

    individual weapon was required.

In late 2003 the Special Operations Force

    Combat Assault Rifle Joint Operational

    Requirements Document was approved and

signed; the following January a worldwide

solicitation was issued to the military

    rearms industry.

In July of 2004, in a full and open competition,

nine vendors submitted a dozen different

designs for the three new weapon systems.

The FN SCAR/EGLM submissions were the only

three separate weapons to pass all of the GO/

NO-GO criteria and were unanimously chosen

by the selection board composed of senior SOF

operators. In November of the same year

FN was awarded the full SCAR contract for

both 5.56mm and 7.62mm ries, along with

    the 40mm Enhanced Grenade Launcher

    Module (EGLM).

    Developmental testing by FN designers,

engineers and operators from various branches

of the U.S. Military to evaluate the new

    weapons' endurance, reliability and accuracy

was conducted from August 2005 through

January 2006. Four Early User Assessments were

also conducted prior to, during and

    after the developmental testing

    process to integrate feedback into

    the nal SCAR design.

    Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP)

    and Production Acceptance Test

    and Evaluation were conducted

from May 2006 through June of

    2007. Beginning in August 2007,

the Initial Operational Test andEvaluation phase was conducted

by various units of the Special

    Operations community, including

    the U.S. Army Rangers, U.S.

    Marine Corps Special Operations

    Command, U.S. Navy SEALS and

    U.S. Army Special Forces. These

tests were carried out in a variety of

    operational environments including

    urban, maritime, jungle and winter/

    mountain warfare situations.

    Final testing was completed in

September of 2008 and the SCAR

    and EGLM was announced as

    Operationally Effective / Operationally

    Suitable and Sustainable (OE/OS).

    Initial elding to operational units

within USSOCOM began in April of

    2009. The rst operational units

    armed with the SCAR system

deployed for overseas duty in the

    summer of 2009.

Whenever the discussion turns to machine guns, the

name FN proudly stands front and center. No other

company in the world has more experience in the

design, engineering and manufacturing of belt-fed

automatic weapons than FN from the legacy designs

of John M. Browning that have protected Americas

soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines for nearly a century,

to todays machine gun variations that accompany

our warghters into harms way. FN makes the nest

machine guns in the world. Period.

FN machine guns cover the entire spectrum: Light

Machine Guns (LMG), Medium Machine Guns (MMG)

and Heavy Machine Guns (HMG). The FN Family of Light

Machine Guns consists of the M249 and the lightweight

MK 46 Mod 1 in 5.56x45mm, and the larger caliber,

lightweight MK 48 Mod 1 in 7.62x51mm. The FN Family

of Medium Machine Guns consists of the M240 series

in 7.62x51mm. Finally, the FN Family of Heavy Machine

Guns consists of the M2HB QCB, M3P and GAU-21

    (M3M) in .50 caliber.

    THE WORLD'S FINEST MACHINE GUNS.

WHEN THE MISSION IS DEFENDING FREEDOM, THE WEAPON IS MADE BY FN.

    SYSTEMS

    SYSTEMS

    FN SYSTEMS

FN is a world leader in the design, development and

manufacturing of automatic weapons, which are

integrated onto various platforms. The FN Family of

Systems is based on proven single-barrel automatic

weapon designs that offer reliability, lethality,

simplicity and safety. FN designs are easily adapted to

mobility platforms (land, sea and air) such as wheeled

and tracked vehicles, water craft, and rotary and xed

wing aircraft. FN has developed and built specialized

subsystems around its family of 5.56mm, 7.62mm and.50 caliber machine gun systems to perform several

different types of missions in extreme environments.

FN integrated systems performance can be augmented

by the inclusion of sighting systems that enable target

acquisition and identication at further distances, as

well as electronic re controls that greatly increase

    the probability of hit.

    SYSTEMS

FN PINTLE SYSTEMS FOR AIRCRAFT, VEHICLE AND NAVAL APPLICATIONS ARE

NOW SERVING WITH AMERICA'S WARFIGHTERS IN HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS

AROUND THE GLOBE, PROVIDING THEM WITH A SIGNIFICANT FIREPOWER

    ADVANTAGE IN EVERY OPERATIONAL ENGAGEMENT.

    37

FN MAkES THE MOUNTSTO MEET YOUR MISSION.FN produces a family of pintle mounts for airborne applications that are categorized into light and

medium congurations. The light pintle is tted with the M240 7.62mm machine gun and the

medium pintle is equipped with the M3 .50 caliber machine gun. The light and medium pintle can be

grouped into four different types of mounting locations, such as external, window, door and ramp.

Each conguration can be adopted to suit a variety of airframes in order to provide the user with the

repower needed to accomplish the mission. FN has designed each pintle mount as on off-the-shelf

(OTS) item that needs only an interface plate assembly to adapt the mount to the specic helicopter

application. Additionally, FN manufactures land and sea pintle mounts that can accept 7.62mm or

.50 caliber machine guns. Light pintle assemblies use the 7.62mm M240 family of weapons or the

MK 48 7.62mm weapon. Medium pintles utilize the M3M machine guns in air, land or sea applications.

The land and sea pintles can utilize the M2HB QCB machine gun in addition to the M3M.

IDENTIFY AND ENGAGE THETHREAT. PROTECT THE OPERATOR.The LRWS was designed to provide a light weight remote ring capability with the operator completely

under armor protection. The system is optimized for vehicles that cannot mount a heavier medium weapon

station, vehicles that have no requirement for a heavy machine gun,or perimeter defense applications. As

a result,FN has used its experience in medium weapon stations to design and develop a weapon station

that is optimized to mount the 5.56mm and 7.62mm machine guns for perimeter defense, small vehicles

and water craft. The LRWS is scalable in terms of ammunition capacity and optical capability depending

on customer requirements, and it is also capable of acc epting armor protection packages to guard against

strikes from rocks, obstructions and re from similar cali ber weapons.Additionally, the LRWS is capable of

elevating to +80 degrees and depressing to -60 degrees. This capability allows the operator to engage a

target this much higher than the vehicle which is suitable in urban terrain as well as in mountainous

regions.Furthermore, the capability to depress the weapon to -60 will allow the operator to engage a

target that is close in to the vehicle or to re into lower terrain that drops away from the vehicle.

IDENTIFY AND ENGAGETHE THREAT.Based on reliable and state of the art technologies, the FN Medium Remote Weapon Station (MRWS) has

been designed to fulll the force protection mission through re support and self defense when mounted

on light, medium and heavy vehicles. The MRWS can be tted with many weapon types including the

    M249 5.56mm,M240 7.62mm,M2HB,M2HB QCB or M3P .50 caliber machine guns and 40mm Automatic

Grenade Launcher (AGL) on a universal cradle assembly. The cradle assembly is equipped with a soft

mount which optimizes ring performance and reduces the level of ri ng shock transmitted to the weapon

station. The weapons can be complimented with several options such as a Laser Range Finder (LRF) with

ballistic computer,two-axis gyroscopic stabilization, ballistic protection and other options to tailor the

system to the user requirements. The system can also be used in a static mount to provide installation and
