FNs unique transatlantic relation-

ship begins in 1897 through its long-

standing partnership with John

Moses Browning, who made 122

trips (over 61 round-trips) between

the United States and Europe (Herstal)

prior to his death in Belgium in 1926.

Through Brownings collaboration

with FN, the company produceslegendary products, such as the

7.65 Auto Pistol (1897), the Auto-5

autoloading shotgun (1902), the

.30-caliber machine gun (1919), the

Browning Automatic Rie (BAR, 1921),

and the Hi Power (1923) auto pistol.

Pot World War II: Once Belgium was

liberated rom German occupation,

FN rebuilds more than 2 million

U.S. small arms rom the European

Theater o Operation, and resumes

manuacturing.

FN produces the GP 35, (an updated

edition o the Browning Hi Power),

FAL, FNC and M2HB QCB or the

Western world and soon earns the

reputation as the right arm o the

ree world. The GP 35 remains the

benchmark against which all other

9mm autoloading service pistols are

measured. Through this same period,FN also develops the 7.62x51mm

cartridge that was approved by NATO

in 1957.

1977: FN acquires Browning Arms.

1977-1982: The U.S. military adopts

both the FN MINIMI Squad Automatic

Weapon (M249) and the FN MAG 58

General Purpose Machine Gun (M240).

FN opens FN Manuacturing, LLC.

(FNM), in Columbia, South Carolina, to

build small arms or the U.S. military.

1982: FNs SS109, 5.56x45mm

caliber cartridge becomes the

NATO standard.

1989: FN becomes The Herstal Group.

1990:FNs 5.7x28mm caliber P90

submachine gun, soon ollowed

The FN SPR A3G precision bolt-action

2004: The FN P90 and FN Five-

seveN pistol are introduced into

the U.S. market.

2007-2008: FN introduces the large

caliber FNP-45 polymer-ramed

autoloading pistol and the selective-

fre FN SCAR 16 and SCAR 17 to

the U.S. law enorcement market.

2008-2010: FN develops a amily o

remotely operated weapon stations

capable o providing protective fre

when mounted on tactical vehicles

and deployed on stationary positions.

The FN deFNder Light is developed

in 2008 and is optimized to handle

7.62x51mm and 5.56x45mm belt-ed

machine guns. The FN deFNder

Medium is developed in 2010 and

is designed to mount .50-caliber

machine guns and 40mm grenade

launchers or deployment on

tactical vehicles.

2010: The FN SCARdesignated

as the MK 16 and MK 17is opera-

tionally deployed around the globe

to U.S. special operators and other

agencies, along with the MK 13 EGLM

(Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module).

The FN 303 Less Lethal Launcher is

introduced as the premier less lethal

system or law enorcement and is

adopted by the U.S. Department o

Homeland Security (2008). In addition,

the 303 is put into use by the U.S.

Army in multiple units through the

ielding o the Rapid Equipping

Force (REF).

2011-2012: FN launches the FNS,

a new polymer, striker-fred pistol

developed or law enorcement

and available to both military and

commercial markets. The company

also launches the 303P Less Lethal

Pistol or military, law enorcement,

corrections, and security duty.

Additionally, the FN SCAR

PDW(Personal Deense Weapon) and the

FN HAMR (Heat Adaptive Modular

Rie) are launched to the U.S. market.

Every FN frearm begins with a detailed analysiso the end users needs. These user needs drive

every aspect o the design process. How will

the irearm ultimately be used and under

which environments? How can FN design the

irearm to be more operator riendly? How

can the ergonomics be improved to allow the

frearm to ft a wider variety o operators and

be more adaptable to their individual needs?

These user-defned criteria are then applied

to the basic design and to the initial selection

o materials. Which components o the new

irearm design would be best executed in

orged steel, aircrat-grade alloy or a high-

perormance polymer? What interior and

exterior fnishes will improve the durability and

reliability o the frearm under all conditions?

Each FN frearm design is careully developed

with the aid o state-o-the-art Computer-

Aided Design and Manuacturing systems(CAD/CAM) to allow the design engineer

to see how each part interacts with every

other component. Each aspect o the frearm

design is meticulously reined, computer-

modeled and tested. Functional prototypes

are developed and rigorously tested throughhundreds o thousands o rounds so the design

can be urther refned. The end result is an

FN frearm design that is precise, accurate,

durable and reliable.

As the design moves into the manuacturing

phase, these computer-designed components

are abricated on state-o-the-art machinery

thats capable o holding tolerances to mere

ractions o an inch. FN rie and pistol barrels

are cold hammer-orged rom ordnance-grade

steel on the same production lines used to

build the machine guns that protect Americas

warriors. Barrel interiors are polished to a

mirror fnish, and are oten hard-chromed or

longer lie. Internal parts are ashioned with

precision suraces to ensure smooth unction

and awless reliability or tens o thousands

o rounds. Internal and external suraces

receive highly-advanced protective coatings

that are able to shrug o the eects o themost adverse environmental conditions.

RELIABLE... ANyTIME AND ANyWHEREAmericas most celebrated gun designer John M. Browning orged a lasting relationship

with FN at the close o the 19th century. From 1898 to the time o his death in 1926 Browning

and FN shaped the direction o frearms design or decades to come.

What was old is new again. FN is no stranger to building striker-fred pistols. Beginning in 1898 FN

brought the world the Model 1898/1900 pistol, producing more than 700,000 units. Following that success

FN created the M1910 and its variant the M1922. With an unquestioned reputation or reliability and accuracy

FN pistols were in demand. In 1955 another variant was built expressly or the American market. The M1955

and later the M1971 were both built to serve the needs o the American public. With more than 70 years o

experience in building some o the fnest striker-fred pistols, FN introduces its latest: the FNS.

Much o what goes into an FN rie comes rom our long history

as an arms manuacturer. FN began as an association o gunsmiths

Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO (223 Rem.), the FN FS2000 is a

semi-auto only variant o the proven FN F2000 selective-fre bullpup

carbines. It is gas-operated, uses a rotating bolt lock-up or reliability

and greater accuracy and has a 17.44 cold hammer-orged, chrome-

lined MIL-SPEC barrel and muzzle brake. Fired cases are ejected
