Challenge Course School Programs 2009 Includes:Threehighropechallengepods,24elementlowropescourse,teamelementchallengeandboulderingwall.
Schoolandyouthdevelopmentprogramsarebasedonthepremiseofexperientialeducation–orlearningbydoing.Ourprogramshelpparticipantsdevelopasenseofpersonalvalidationandassisttheminsurpassingtheirself-imposedlimits.Thisoccursbyprovidingasafeenvironmentwhichcreatesanopportunityforlearningphysically,emotionallyandinterpersonally.
Intendedforstudentseightto18yearsofage(Grade3to12),therearethreedifferentprogramsofferedtostudents,eachfosteringthedevelopmentofdifferentskillsandprovidingdistinctiveoutcomes.
Programsareofferedfrom9:00a.m.to12noonor1:00p.m.to4:00p.m.,MondaythruFriday-JuneandSeptembertoNovember(weatherpermitting).
Programs are offered from 9a.m. to 12 noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Friday - June and September to November (weather permitting).
A) The Explorers(9:00a.m. to 12 noon or 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.)Thepurposeofthisprogramistoprovideparticipantstheopportunitytoexploretheirpersonallimits,challengethemselvesphysicallyandemotionallyandidentifytheirpersonalboundarieswhilecreatingawarenessofchallengebychoice.Thisprograminvolvesbothinitiativesandlowropes.
Available: June and September to November (weather permitting) Suitable for Grades: 3 to 12Number of Participants: 10 to 60 participants
B) the Mountain Climbers (9:00a.m. to 12 noon or 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.)Thisprogramprovidesparticipantstheopportunitytoovercomeself-imposedlimitsandbuildself-confidence.Participantsareencouragedtochallengethemselvesphysicallyandemotionallytoexpandtheirownpersonalboundariesandgrowtheirconfidence.Thisprogramstartswithaninitiativeactivityandfocusesmoreonthegrowthoflowandhighropes.

Portable Challenge CourseCan’tmakeittothePark...whynothavethechallengecoursecometoyou?WithmanyofthesameelementsasourchallengecourseatthePark,thiscoursecanbesetupinyourgymnasiumorlargeclassroom.AnOutdoorEducationCentrestaffmemberwillprovideeverythingthatyourschoolgroupwillneedforagreathalforfull-day.

Geo-Challenge 2009Geocachingwithatwist!WehavecombinedgeocachingandourpopularChallengeCoursetocreateanewadventureprogramcalledGeo-Challenge!
Geocachingisahigh-techtreasurehuntinggameplayedthroughouttheworldbyadventureseekers.EquippedwithGPSdevices,teamswillfindhiddenlocationswheretheywillbechallengedasagrouptocompletevariouslowropesandinitiativeactivities(ex.LogTraverse,LandSkis,theWall,andthelistgoeson)inordertoobtaintheirnextcoordinate.
Schoolandyouthdevelopmentprogramsarebasedonthepremiseofexperientialeducation–orlearningbydoing.Ourprogramshelpparticipantstodevelopasenseofpersonalvalidationandassisttheminsurpassingtheirself-imposedlimits.Thisoccursbyprovidingasafeenvironmentwhichcreatesanopportunityforlearningphysically,emotionallyandinterpersonally.

Geocaching School Programs 2009Yourgeocachingprogramincludeseverythingthatyouwillneedtogetyourschoolgroupoutsidehuntingforthenexttreasurecache.Allprogramscanbetailoredtoyourspecificschoolgroup’slearningandphysicalrequirementsallyear-round.Geocachingisahigh-techtreasurehuntinggameplayedthroughouttheworldbyadventureseekersequippedwithGPSdevices.Thebasicideaistolocatehiddencontainers,calledgeocaches..Geocachingisenjoyedbypeoplefromallagegroups,withastrongsenseofcommunityandsupportfortheenvironment.

Winter School Programs 2008/09
Ski and Ride Centre(Grades1to12)Unliketraditionalskiandsnowboardlessons,ouruniqueSkiandRideCentreallowsyourstudentstodevelopskillsattheirownpaceinafunandcontrolledenvironment.Eachofthethreestagesprogressintothenext,givingallstudentsasenseofaccomplishmentwhilebuildingspecificskills.Forbeginnerskiersandriders,thisisagreatwaytogetstartedinapressurefree,funenvironment.TheSkiandRideCentreisopenMondaytoFriday9:30a.m.–3:30p.m.Studentsmaystayaslongastheywishateachstation.Onceastudenthasbeensuccessfulateachstage,theirpassportwillbepunchedtoallowthemtoproceedtothenextstage.
ECS & KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM (ages3to5)AtCanadaOlympicPark,wehavedefinitelynotforgottenthelittlerippers.OurECSprogramrunseveryMonday,WednesdayandFridaywithtwolessontimesfrom9:00a.m.–10:00a.m.and1:00p.m.–2:00p.m.Withtheadditionofournewlearningareaandfoureasy-to-accessMagicCarpetlifts,thestudentswillbeskiingorsnowboardingdownthehillwithconfidenceinnotime.OurnewprogressivestickersystemwillgiveallofourECSstudentsonemorereasontosmile.Thelittleripperswillreceiveaonehourgrouplesson(threestudentstooneinstructororfourstudentstooneinstructorplusonehelper)inournewFirstTurnsSkiandRideCentre.Studentswillbegreetedbyoneofourfriendlyskiprofessionalsandorganizedintogroupsbasedonabilitylevelsascloseaspossible.
NORDIC PROGRAMExperienceourextensivecross-countrytrailswithouthavingtoleavethecitylimits.Ourcross-countryskiareaconsistsofone2.2kmloopandtwo400mbeginnerloopswithnightlighting.TakealessonfromoneofourexperiencedandknowledgeableNordicinstructors,whoteachskillssuchasskateorclassicstyleskiing,sidesteppinganddiagonalstridesliding.Ourrentalshophastherightequipmenttogetyouandyourstudentsoutonthesnow.Ourskateorclassiclessonsruneveryhouronthehour,from9:00a.m.tonoonand1:00p.m.–3:00p.m.,MondaythroughFriday.PleasefeelwelcometoworkwithoneofourhighlytrainedandcertifiedNordicinstructorstotailorthelessontoyourspecificneeds.PleaseensurethatyoucarefullyreadandfollowtheArrivalandDailyProceduresprovidedsothatyourarrivalwillrunassmoothlyandefficientlyaspossible.Onceyourgroupisproperlyequippedwiththeirgear,yourCanadaOlympicParkNordicprofessionalwillleadyourgrouptoourcross-countryarea.
Mountain Bike School Programs 2009Park Riding Program (9:00a.m. - 12 noon, 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.)
ByusingourSixStepProgressionTeachingmodel,instructorswillhaveallstudentsridingconfidentlyandsafelydownourKONAGrooveApprovedPark.Studentswilllearnskillssuchasbikesafety,trailetiquette,balance,controlandtechnicaldevelopment.Thisprogramincludesatwo-hourlessonandonehourofindividualriding.Yourprogramcanbetailoredtoyourschedulingrequirements.

Teacher tour - the Eastlands at the Park2-hour tour DidyouknowthatWinSportCanada’sCanadaOlympicParkhasawetlandsarealocatedontheproperty?DidyouknowthattherewasoneofthelargestarchaeologicaldigsinAlbertarighthereatthePark?Orwhatabouttheglaciererraticthathasbeenstandingaloneforthousandsofyears?Comeoutandseehowscience,history,socialstudies,outdooreducationandhealthstudyeducatorsaretakingadvantageofCanadaOlympicPark’sexcellentlearningenvironment.Severaltimesperyear,teachersareinvitedtocomeforatourandseethelearningenvironmentwehavetooffer.Afterthetour,youwillhaveallthetoolsyouwillneedtotakeyourclassonyourveryownwalkthroughtime!

SkylineSchool Programs 2009SkylineattheParkisoneofNorthAmerica’sfastestziplines.EmulateaskijumperasyougetharnessedinandrideacablefromtheSkiJumpTowertothebaseofthehill,forsomeexhilaratingfun.Rateincludesinstruction,achairliftorshuttlerideupthehilltotheTower,accesstotheTowerandaziplineride.
