Application Procedure University Placement Services

Students enrolling in a Pathways Program are strongly encouraged to take the online English test at www.ilac.com/online_test to determine their English level and study plan.

The University Pathways department guides you through every step of applying to a post-secondary institution in Canada

ILAC will carefully assess and send all your documents directly to the university or college on your behalf

If you are already in Canada at ILAC:

1. Complete ILAC’s English for University Purposes Program

and/or provide Proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL,

IELTS and/or the institution’s own English Placement test).

If you are still in your home country:

1. Enroll in ILAC’s English for University Purposes Program

please contact [email protected] for more information

We provide these services:

Online English Placement test to help determine your study plan before you arrive in Canada (www.ilac.com/online_test)

• Information support and counselling while you are still in your home country

• One-on-one counseling while you study at ILAC

• Help with completing your university or college application

• Conditional acceptance to university /college

• Group school tours

• Individual school tours

• University & college mini-fairs and school presentations

• Customized curriculum to meet your specific academic needs and goals

• Automatic pathway to our partner institutions

• Study permit and visa extension assistance

• Ongoing support and academic counselling while you

study at a partner university or college

Student Visas:

ILAC will arrange joint letters of acceptance for:

(1) English language studies at ILAC

(2) Conditional acceptance to university or college so that you can

immediately apply for a long term student visa.

ILAC is committed to supporting Canadian education. To encourage academic excellence, we award $500 scholarships to our high-achieving students.

C$500 scholarship for all students who graduate from the English for University Purposes Program with an “A” average.

Students will receive this award towards the first-year tuition at any university or college in Canada.

ILAC has agreements with 18 universities and colleges across Canada

1. High School Year Program

• Students can earn a Canadian High School Diploma.

• This program includes:

English for University Purposes at ILAC; and 4, 6 or 7 grade Ontario High School credits.

• Program runs for 27-36 weeks depending on how many high school credits are taken.

2. English for University Purposes Program (EUP) • This program prepares the student to succeed in Canadian universities and

Colleges through academic writing, academic listening, the ability to conduct oral

presentations and research skills.

• Students who complete this program may be able to enter one of our partner

universities and colleges without a TOEFL score.

College or University? College & University Programs of Study at a Glance

A glance at Colleges• Colleges offer full and part-time Post-secondary Diploma and Post Graduate Certificate programs; many offer Bachelor degrees in applied areas of study.

• Certificate programs are generally 1 year or less whereas Diploma programs can be 2 or 3 years. Degree programs are 4 years.

• Post-graduate Certificate/Diploma Programs are hands-on intensive training offered for “university graduates” in specific career areas such as business, marketing, finance,

project management, IT, technology, design, etc.

• Colleges tend to be more directly career-oriented.

Admission requirements: • High school diploma from your country ( for Post-Secondary Certificate/Diploma)

• Bachelor Degree from your country ( for Post-Graduate Certificate programs)

• GPA: Minimum C average

• ILAC’s English for University Purposes or Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent)

A glance at Universities• Universities are degree-granting educational institutions. All offer Undergraduate (Bachelor’s), Graduate (Master’s) programs.

• Universities are more academic as opposed to hands-on.

• Undergraduate degrees usually take 4 years to complete required prior to admission into a Graduate Program.

• Graduate degree is a degree after the Bachelor’s where the min B average should be achieved for the admission.

• Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Management and Master of Engineering, Master of Science & Arts are the most popular course-based professional Master’s

degrees preferable by international students.

Admission requirements:• High School Diploma from your country ( for Undergraduate degrees programs)

A glance at Colleges• Colleges offer full and part-time Post-secondary Diploma and Post Graduate Certificate programs; many offer Bachelor degrees in applied areas of study.

• Certificate programs are generally 1 year or less whereas Diploma programs can be 2 or 3 years. Degree programs are 4 years.

• Post-graduate Certificate/Diploma Programs are hands-on intensive training offered for “university graduates” in specific career areas such as business, marketing, finance,
