Roger Wernette, Director, Houston The Gathering USA/INC SESSION I Putting the Service/Profit Chain to Work How did Jesus call the disciples to lead? It was through a discipleship style in which he

articulated that the “first should be last.” How would a leader, called to run an organization, lead and be both successful in task as well as in the “eyes” of Scripture. The discipleship process, in which one pours his life into the lives of few, and they, in turn, put their lives into others, is still a viable model for business and especially for the Church. We must, as the Church, call on each other to be servants as we disciple those who are working with and for us. It is also the only way to generate long-term success, no matter in which business the organization is involved.

The discussion will begin with the Service/Profit Chain as designed by James Heskett of Harvard and show how it can be applied to the Christian’s leadership style. Special consideration will be paid to the church environment.

SESSION IICreating a Productive Work EnvironmentMost management systems begin with the idea that a position is offered to a perspective employee, who then must perform in order to retain that job. Some believe that in order to draw better performance out

of an employee; management must use a forceful style of leadership. In truth, demand/control management does not produce long-term optimal performance. Real and lasting results come by improving the personal abilities of each employee through relationship and truthful feedback. A true leader is one whom is personally growing and challenging subordinates to do the same.

Through a discussion of the Five Laws of Personal Constraint™, we will discuss how to build a team that performs at its best. If a leader desires employees to be highly motivated and self-starting, it is a process that cannot be skipped.

Paul Haydel, Director Compass Group SESSION III Leadership Principles of Motivating People This workshop delivers practical motivation principles that participants can utilize in their

professional and ministry environment. The workshop is interactive, designed to draw on the knowledge and expertise of the participants as well as the facilitator. Participants are lead through “experiential learning” exercises that reinforce the principles taught during the workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to take a motivation survey to discover what actually motivates them, and then measure their results against national averages. The majority of the content is centered around what we at Compass call the “Greatest Motivation Principle and the Second Greatest Motivation Principle. All participants will receive a template for a “Daily Motivation Plan”. This tool is theirs to keep and use in their roles as ministry leaders, managers and supervisors.

Tammy’s story is one of despair and unexpected grace. In September 2001 she and her husband, Trent (from whom her stage name comes from), spent a few days in Jamaica - part mission trip, part vacation. On September 10th, Trent went diving and never returned. Tammy spent the rest of the day with rescue divers trying to locate her husband with no success. She woke up the next morning in the home of strangers to discover that the whole world had gone mad. As she waited for news of her husband, she watched the news as two planes plowed into the Twin Towers in New York - later that day she had to identify the body of her hus-band. No one in her family could get to her as flights were canceled. She was held captive in Jamaica for ten more days waiting to return to her family. Tammy’s story of God’s grace in the midst of such pain, fear and loss touches everyone she ministers to. It is one thing to call the Lord shepherd - it is another to be carried by Him when you can no longer stand. Tammy is constantly amazed by our Lord’s commit-ment to us in the worst moments of our lives.

SESSION IExploring Telecommunications Savings to Fuel New TechnologiesSaving Telecommunications Costs is an area of untapped opportunity in most Church’s expense ledgers. Constituents that have not explored

these savings are missing out on vast opportunities available to them; opportunities that equate to substantial savings and better stewardship of finances. These savings can be used for other ministries or equip-ment expenditures. Our discussion will educate our CO-OP members how to save 25% to 50% on their recurring monthly telecommunica-tions and internet access costs. These savings can translate into thou-sands and tens of thousands of dollars a year that can be used to fuel new ministries and new technologies.

Through our informative and educational session, you will become more knowledgeable and informed about their current and future telecommunication systems. Exploring of telecommunication savings and recent technological advancements can fuel in the evaluation and implementation of the right solution for your ministry. By identifying the precise purchasing method for your church budget you can stay within your boundaries while ushering in the new technology.

Jeff Malott, Technical Arts Director Metropolitan Baptist Church SESSION II Developing Your Church’s Technical Arts Ministry Our culture is constantly changing, yet the

message of the Gospel is forever constant. How do we bridge that gap and connect our community with the Gospel? This session will explore why your church needs a technical arts ministry and how to develop one. Topics include: effective use of technology, integration with the message, team concepts and more.

Michele M. Stanton, CPA SESSION III Identity Theft – It Could Happen to YOU! Identity Theft is the fastest growing white collar crime in America today. Millions have been affected by crimes that cost billions. This workshop

will tell you how people become victims of identity theft, how to prevent it, and how to correct it should you or family members become victims. You will receive valuable information and a resources sheet to keep in case of emergency.

Ken Kippes, Corporate Branch Manager Hillyard SESSION I “The World at Your Feet” Hard Floor & Carpet Care Techniques Your facility has flooring ranging from hard

(vinyl or ceramic tile) to soft (carpet) to in-between (wood or synthetic sports floors). How these surfaces are maintained determines not only appearance, but also affects your operating budget. Lack of mainte-nance now can result in higher renovation expense or even premature replacement.

Developing an effective, on-going floor maintenance program will extend the life of your flooring, keep your maintenance costs down, and provide for a positive impression of your facility by all who enter. This workshop will help you develop an effective program, including supplies, equipment, training and scheduling.

David L. Salmon, PhD. OSS – Law Enforcement Advisors SESSION II Let Your Light Shine! Church and Residential Security Lighting Security lighting is a must when protecting both

church facilities and assets. Even more important is the protection of church staff, the congregation and visitors to the property. During 2003, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America published GL-1-2003, which is the national Guideline for Security Lighting of People, Property, and Public Spaces. This workshop will utilize the GL-1-2003 to provide specific applications for church facilities, office buildings, parking garages, residential properties, and much more.

David L. Salmon II OSS – Law Enforcement Advisors SESSION III Clear the Clutter: Facility Risk Management There is serious responsibility and tremendous liability regarding the safety and security of those

who work, use, or visit your church property. You must have a plan in order to meet many community and industry standards, regulatory codes, and even court standards when it comes to personal safety and security. Common questions that will be addressed in this workshop in-clude: How much security do I need? Is this a high crime area? What is the most cost effective security I can have? Do I need to hire guards or law enforcement or both? What can I do in order to have a cost effective risk management program?

Becky Burns, Owner Administrative Professionals with Purpose SESSIONS I Excuse Me While I Worship! Overcoming Distractions on Sundays For church employees, your profession is also

your ministry. When you attend the church you work for, ministry is not restricted to office hours and limited to policy and procedure. Discover practical ways to overcome distractions and avoid burn-out. Seize opportunities to create balance and inspiration to continue with excellence.

SESSION II“FISH Philosophy” The Essence of LifeFISH can help you focus on the foundations of living victoriously. It is a strategy that can be applied both personally and professionally to enrich your life in ministry and broaden your circle of influence. It’s not about what you are doing, but about who you are while you are doing it.

SESSION IIIPassion for God – Compassion for ManMary and Martha provide us a unique perspective of how ordinary people can successfully serve God: passionately pursuing His divine presence and compassionately serving the humanity of His body on earth. Unleash your servant potential and create an atmosphere to entertain the dual-nature of Christ every day.
