We are nearing that wonderful time of the year when we once again celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. This is the one event in history that distinguishes Christianity from all other religions. Jesus Christ rose from the grave victorious as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and will one day stand in judgment while others bow down before Him. As you know, before the Resurrection an event took place that defined the love of Christ in perfect detail, and that was The Crucifixion. The Bible says in John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” This verse makes it clear that the death of Christ came as a result of the Savior voluntarily sacrificing His life for lost sinners. We read in the Bible that not only did He die for those who loved Him, but He also died for those who hated Him – Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I am writing briefly to extend an invitation to you, your family and friends to attend a special viewing of “The Passion of the Christ” to be held here at First Christian Church on Good Friday evening, April 14 beginning at 6:30 PM. This would be a wonderful opportunity to invite people who do not know Christ as Savior as we will be extending an invitation for Salvation at the conclusion of the movie. This movie captured the attention of the nation in 2004 as Mel Gibson presented the events of the Crucifixion in detail, and while controversy raged over the violent as-pects, the reality of it is that no movie could ever capture the horrific events that actually took place. The movie has been given an “R” rating due to the graphic nature of many of the scenes, and you will need to determine if it is something your children or grandchildren are ready to see. Please take a moment to write down 5 friends, family, or neighbors you would like to invite, then be in prayer concerning your approach to them. Ask the Holy Spirit to direct you, and I know He will. Please be in prayer about this event and pray that God will touch the hearts of many souls.

Yours in Christ, Pastor Ed

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Someone so accurately reflected about Resurrection Day in this way; “The stone was rolled away from the door, not to permit Christ to come out, but to enable the disciples to go in”. Death could not hold Him in the grave as he arose victorious on the third day morning! Jesus was, is, and will be alive for all of eternity and for that we are forever grateful because as He lives, we too have everlasting life if we simply accept Him as Savior. 1 Cor. 15:20 “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” This is a time of year when things are coming to life all around us. The birds are singing, grass is growing, and flowers are blooming and winter months have given us a greater appreciation for the advent of Spring. What a deep appreciation we can have for the life of Christ when we pause and reflect on the darkness of His death. From the moment Jesus was born we know that the Cross was always in the horizon and with each passing year not only did the Cross get nearer, but the ultimate victory as well…the Resurrection! The Bible makes it clear as well that Jesus looked far beyond the Cross; Hebrews 12:2b “…who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” I know that He now sits at the right hand of the throne of God and is presently making intercession for each one of us as we go through our “dark moments” of life. If you are going through difficulty at this time, rest assured that “weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning”. As we here at First Christian Church celebrate the Resurrection, I encourage you to give thought to the fact that Jesus is “on your side” and the Resurrection proves it! Resurrection Day Blessings,

Pastor Ed

Clavius, a powerful Roman Mili-tary Tribune, and his aide Lucius, are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Yahshua in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

LCMC NEWS

We have the honor of being asked to host the first Gathering of the Great Lakes District on April 28th and 29th. The Great Lakes District is comprised of all LCMC churches in Michigan and part of Ohio. More information will follow in the Sunday bulletins.

We will be assisted by Pastor Steve and members of Christ Lutheran Church in Birch Run. The Great Lakes District needs our help. Many pastors and delegates will be attending from small congregations throughout Michigan and Ohio. Many of these churches cannot afford the expense of putting up their pastor and delegates up in a motel for the night. Therefore the District has asked Christ Lutheran Reese and Christ Lutheran Birch Run to ask its members if they would be kind enough to open their homes for one night and host a visiting pastor or delegate.

I know that you will do your best (as you always do) to help make this event a fruitful and blessed event.

Pastor Ed

Dear Pastor Kloos & Church Family,

Being homeless is never easy, but it’s downright awful in winter. Cold, windy, wet weather brings new miseries and challenges every day. That’s why your gift to the City Rescue Mission means so much to me. You ensure our homeless neighbors find warm safe shelter and escape the winter. Thank You! Because of your compassion, we can warmly welcome all those who seek our help with food, clothing, and shelter. We also provide counseling, life skills classes, case management and other vital services that enable people to leave the cold streets for good. Thank you and God bless you! Your partnership of care

is such a blessing! Dan Streeter

Dear Pastor Kloos & Church Family,

Thank you for your monetary gift. With 9,750 meals to prepare and serve this Easter season, your generosity is truly a blessing. However, your gift will offer so much more than food. When someone sits down to a meal at Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, they will also find hope in the Gospel message we share and through our supportive services and recovery programs. Because you care, everything a hurting man or woman needs to transform his/her life in Christ is right at hand. May God bless you for your compassion during this season of renewal. Thank you for investing in the lives of our neighbors in need! With gratitude, Dan Streeter

Funerals Duane Edwards, Brother of Dave Edwards, Passed away March 10th Pastor Ed performed the funeral ceremony and Duane was to rest in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Saginaw
