YOUNG CONTINENTAL The best single suckled cattle getting shorter in supply due to the time of year.

Trade for the best very lively and quality Simmentals from Mike Lush 10 – 12mo

Limousin forward but outstanding 11mo steers from young Archie Hill created

furious bidding to £1150!

HEREFORD

A super trade for all Herefords this week, buyers looking for the hard grazing types. 7 – 8mo named sired Hereford steers from AJ Napthine & Son produced exciting bidding to finish at a superb £620! Stronger 17 – 18mo Hereford x steers were in demand and a lovely consignment from Highgrove Farm saw prices to £932 and £892. Quality bulling Hereford heifers from the same home peaked at £788 closely followed by the Flux’s heifer to £740. Grand forward steers and heifers presented by Charlie & Fred Butcher saw competitive bidding throughout to £980 and £895 respectively. Overall another good trade and particularly the older cattle closer to finishing seeing prices reflective of the current strong finished demand.

ANGUS A large proportion of Angus cattle forward today which enjoyed a strong trade for all presented. Best steers to £1090 (twice) from regular supporters D Flux & C Griffin from the Isle of Wight and Steve and Rachael Stamp of Highbridge. Other quality Angus steers to £1080 from CJ Board & Partners of Lottisham and £1052 from Hinton Hill Farm. Well fleshed Angus heifers to £978 from Rupert Dyke & family with other quality forward types to £952 from EAS Reeves of Warminster who had others at £880. A quality run of 16 – 17mo Angus steers from P & R Kimber enjoyed a strong trade topping at £942. Younger steers all looked a strong trade with plenty over 11mo Angus heifers £680 from AJ McKie with quality 10mo heifers to £602 from CF & AM Martin.

FRIESIANS

Trade continues for the best end stronger goods with trade still flying, topping at

£888 from ML & RI Loder of Yeovil with others to £800. Strong sorts from D

Flux & C Griffin of the Isle of Wight to £830 and well framed steers to £805 from

Rupert Dyke & family. Younger sorts wanted with less Friesians on the market

driving the trade, certainly still a trade to make use of, Friesians certainly

looking worth their money as calves.

During these challenging times we are encouraging everyone to think about their own physical and mental health and that of their families and

staff.

We can help with contingency planning against the backdrop of the Corona virus outbreak and our FarmWell website (www.farmwell.org.uk)

offers a wealth of free information about managing change and maintaining personal wellbeing.
