A definite article (el, la, los, las) is needed when naming colors in spanish ( because they are considered nouns) . Me gusta el pantalon negro para mi

cumpleanos. Prefiero el (panatalon) rojo.

This is another way of saying “ I like the red one” or “ I like the blue one”

Te gusta el vestido azul o el vestido gris? Do you like the blue dress or the

grey dress? Me gusta el (vestido) gris?
